Honestly, one of the reasons why I use pressure sensitivity is to mix colors. Not to have different size lines. As long as it has low latency it will be more than enough.

Is it really possible to get some degree of pressure sensitivity by adjusting the settings? I mainly want a pencil for note taking and some drawing here and there as a hobby, so if it’s at all possible, this would be the best option for me.

I didn’t need the Apple Pencil. I don’t draw. But when I got my iPad, I was convinced through marketing that it’s a must have but I was not convinced enough to fork out money for an Apple branded one. The ESR is perfect for me.

I cant draw nearly this well, so for somebody just starting out with both art and digital drawing would yall reccomend this or the full apple pencil? Got iPad 9 and will be using photoshop since i have a free subscription

I have used the apple pencil now for years and only now stumbled upon problems with procreate after my pen broke. With ibisPaint you could even use your finger and get the same results if you are talented enough. I don't know the mechanics of photoshop, but I'd argue that it is similar to procreate and ibis (which both work quite differently), so the apple pencil isn't really necessary- especially when you are a beginner and just learning the basics of drawing. I also noticed that once you are used to the pen, you work best with it, so it's probably also a matter of practice and after a while you find the brush settings that work for you and the pen best, thus (again) I'd say the Apple pencil isn't too necessary. On top of that the apple pen is quite overpriced, considering how easily it broke in my case (i dropped from abt a meter height and the tip broke off in such an angle that you can't even repace the tip). Hope this helps :)
