Apple River stabbing trial: Friend of victim testifies

Landon Weyer, friend of victim Isaac Schuman, took the stand in the Apple River stabbing trial today.
The trial of Nicolae Miu, the man accused of the deadly stabbing on the Apple River in 2022, continues Tuesday with witness testimony, a day after a graphic video was shown in court of the deadly fight on the Wisconsin river.

This whole situation was avoidable. Alcohol never helps … yes, the teenagers were provoking it initially by name-calling … but when he grabbed those inner tubes that changed everything because they were not able to leave, and if it were me, I would not leave my innertube . Maybe he could have stabbed their tubes instead of stabbing them. They would’ve got the message across and he would not be going to prison for life. I don’t know how else to look at this except it’s just a horrific disaster all around for everyone.

The whole thing for me really hinges on whether or not Miu punched the girl before the two adults came over and started attacking him. Since there is no video of him punching her you have to rely on the witnesses. In order for the witnesses to be believable they have to be honest on every other front. A District Attorney's job is to protect their community. This one failed. It's shocking to charges were not brought against the other people involved. Not only do these young men think they have no responsibility for their actions the state has literally sanctioned their lying. Aldi's in Tyler brats should be charged with underage drinking possession of marijuana and they should do an investigation of where they got the alcohol from because one of the parents mentioned on one of the newscasts that they owned a more and they trusted their kids to be able to deescalate. So do these brats get the alcohol from the parents that on the bar

He was pretending to look for his phone when he was really just being a sick old creep. Funny how none of that is being mentioned in this whitewashing of events. The other kids got involved when the nice old man struck a girl. That's never ok. Ever. Anyone who thinks it is is part of the problem. This creep could have walked away multiple times but he ran at some drunk unarmed kids and pulled a knife. The video doesn't show the whole thing and the prosecution is really dropping the ball here laying this out.

The kids started it with accusations, and creating a scene of a supposed pedo. Being drunk and high did not help, if a group 13+ kids, & adults ( 2 being football players) surrounded me, hit me, knocked me down, pushed me underwater, i would've defended myself with what I had. The group should've let the man pass and stay cleared of him. Not antagonize him.

@ANWFineArt yes I have watched the video many times but obviously we see it differently. Your entitled to your opinion just as I am mine. And teens being teens is not an excuse when they accuse a grown adult of rape or looking for little girls, not in today's world...the other group that were also drinking that came at him pushing him telling him to leave, in his face were no better. Funny how the female who supposedly got hit , knocked down but still had her drink, vape and phone none that were dripping wet from falling in water. But ok we obviously watched 2 different videos...again not stating anyone deserved to be stabbed or killed, but he had a right to defend himself when being ganged upon by drunks. Learn how much alcohol one can consume before becoming impaired...clearly shows in video, but guess that is OK and people just being people..ok

He only struck the people who struck or tried to strike him, he did not chase any of them, this is clearly a self defence case
