Apple’s NEW M4 MacBooks and Mac Mini: What You Should Know!

So, about that possible Apple event happening later. Yeah, well there's a lot to discuss there. Aside from an extra pair of Pro AirPods and even an updated iPad mini, Apple seems ready to bring us new Macs in probably the most aggressive launch we've seen from the lineup in a bit. At this point a year has passed since Apple's scary fast event for the M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max chips, and then we got new M3 MacBook Airs around 6 months ago. The natural progression was for this to be the M4 event, but that already happened with the iPad Pros we got to see in May. I know, that move was odd, but it helped pave the way to what to expect later this year for the Mac.

Seriously, you can buy mini pcs with 32gb of ram for $200. There is absolutely no reason that 16gb shouldn’t be the absolute bare minimum on anything considered premium. Honestly, 32gb makes sense for anything approaching $1000 considering that any windows laptop would have that. I think it’s pretty obvious that Apple created a problem by making the M-series chips a little too good. If they released computers that don’t price gauge on ram, people wouldn’t spring for the Mac Studio.

The M4 Mac Mini has me extremely excited, if it ships with 16gb RAM and stays at its current price point it will be one of the best deals out in the market

But anyone with anyof the currently available m-series macs wont be that tempted to upgrade though as their current devices very well serves their purpose more than enough for 80-90% of their use case !!

@@sameersheriff7078 There might me be a small percentage of people on the M1 who swap over because of the big difference between M1 and M4. What I think will happen is that people who wanted to swap over to MacOS will find it more enticing with the base 16

@@mosando But those are tiny subset of people and ones thinking of switching might go for it but the problem is there were already macs with enough capabilities that might be available with our currently available m-seires mac itself and maybe desktop users might with for m4 as there isnt m3 version of it !!! In apple's point of view it makes no sense to release mac year after year as people using those hardly has any need to upgrade them in such a short period !!! They could skip m4 and release m5 late next year and maybe at that point people might think of upgrading !!!

@@sameersheriff7078 I am struggling to understand what you rant is in regards to the M4 Mac Mini being one of the best deals around if it the base configuration is 16gb and at same price point ? I personally know around 7 people who refuse to get a Mac do to base being 8gbs and are excited that it looks like the new base configuration will be 16gbs and most likely will get an M4 Mac Mini when they launch, again only if the base configuration is 16gb. Not everyone who has a Mac Mini and is thinking of upgrading are on M series chips, a lot are on still in the Intel variants, not everyone who is eyeing the new M4 Mac Mini is on MacOS, again this will be one of the best deals out there and even more if one wants to get into MacOS.

I might actually bite finally with the base Mac Mini since they're finally (so it seems) starting with the base of 16GB instead. The question is: will it have a matching higher base price over the 8GB base models? The current industry trend of making small increments in capacity cost exorbitantly more (like $150, $200, $250) just to go from 8 to 16, or 256 to 512 GB totally turned me off from checking out previous Mac minis. If the base model of M4 Mac mini is $100 more (or greater) than the previous base model I might just pass it again.

i think it was microsoft surface book that pushed apple to be a little aggressive first time in histories back in the days. and i hope microsoft can do this again with lunar lake and a really needed upgrade to their surface book line up ..

I am a desktop guy (current machine is an OG M1 Mini (using 50" Mid-grade 4K TV as a monitor) and an M1 iPad Air 5 (with a Brydge-branded keyboard/case) for traveling or portable use. However, a 12" MacBook with M4 will fill both these needs in one form-factor. What still amazes me is the power that these budget priced, consumer-grade machines provide. Apple Silicon has indeed proved itself a winner !

For the 2 games that actually support macOS it can be LOL. The hardware is there all the way, I bet you could play games that need beefy pc's but the only issue is no one makes games for macOS. the only reason Linux gaming is decent is because value made proton allowing window games Linux feeling almost like native. If apple can find a way to do this as well then all mac's alike can be good for gaming but for now, it's a hot mess. Not to mention apple hates gamers and games, it's something they just don't care about and I don't blame them.

My fingers are crossed. Hopefully my janky 8 year old surface pro with a cracked screen, keyboard held together with duct tape, broken kickstand, and a battery that barely lasts more than 40 minutes continues to live for just a few more months, until the M4 macbook air comes out

anything is better than a intel but it's so close you might as well. Unless you need it right right now find some discounts any M series macbook. If you can afford to wait then I think you should. M4 will be more power efficient.

I’m a dev and my M1 Pro 16 is still working buttery smooth. Never had any issues ❤ Will wait until they remove the notch to an island or something else.

Dont upgrade till m5 with oled displays for the very least !! I've m1 pro 16 as well and its already an overkill for me and might've bought the air instead if not for its state of the art display though !!!

@@tonyburzio4107 Wrong, Dev's working with text all day not playing video games. Even when compiling your code a m1 is probably powerful enough to do it fast. The only reason for this dev to upgrade to a m4 is for A) Better power efficiency/ and battery life and B) for the base config ram of 16GB so he can have his 50 tabs open, 20 apps open all at the same time. Any improve he needs would be outside of speed as M1 is already super powerful.

Apple already should have had NON-8 GB baseline for M3 and it's new GPU ( say 12 GB baseline ). In their parlance, now 18 should be bare minimum.

Don't see Apple doing 16GB default on Mac Mini M4. It'd mean a price hike to $849, and I don't see that as the entry level computer the Mini was always designed to be.

You want to show me innovation Apple? Make a dam keyboard that don't shine like my head after like 1 month of use. It's ugly and marred the look of otherwise gorgeous Laptops. Been an issue for years and you won't fix it. Innovate a way to use PBT instead of always be shiny.... I mean ABS plastic in your keys. The M4 should never be compared by Core Count, this new processor is very different than the M1 because the graphics use new routines written by Blender. That's right, the M1 and the M4 are in line, the M2 and M3 were errors, the M2 had terrible graphics and the M3 technology was replaced by TSMC almost as fast as they could get the new line running..

Yeah M3 was suppose to be M4. Only reason M3 even exist was because apple wanted to be first to the 3nm line up. Now the M4 is what we should of had if they weren't so hasty. Now the M4 will have good graphics and good processing :D

Disagree, since they been working on this for awhile. Most will either upgrade or not and wait for M5. IMO apple releasing this soon is good, bc M3 was a silicon nightmare.
