Oh wait, minus the MacBook Pro, I already have all of that, just the previous year model of the iPad and iPhone. I grabbed the M1 iPad Pro just after the M2 came out, got $400 off of that. Totaling it all up, $2800, $1700, $1300, $800, $550, $300, $250, $150, $100. $7950 before any sales tax, but also not counting any sales. Got my iPad for $1300, Apple Watch Ultra for $740, AirPods Max for $430, AirPods Pro for $200, Homepods I'd buy openbox/refurbished for around $200 ish (got the first gen for that much), then HomePod Mini for around $90. $740 saved from sales. MacBook could likely be found with a $300 or $400 discount to save even more. Just have to keep an eye out for the prices at different retailers instead of buying from Apple directly.

I’d go with pretty much what I’ve already got. - Top end iPad Pro 12.9” with v2 Pencil and Magic Keyboard - Latest iPhone Pro non-Max 256 GB for now (the smaller one is perfect size for me) - Watch Ultra - AirPods Max - Apple TV top end model - expensive for a set-top streaming device, maybe, but also by far the best set-top streaming device on the market by a very wide margin. Only thing close is Roku and they cost almost as much for a less pleasant experience + Mac Mini or Studio with an M2, whenever that’s available and when I’m ready to spend more on more Apple hardware + MacBook Pro M2, probably 14”, maybe 16”, 32 GB RAM and probably 2 TB SSD depending on when I’m ready to spend more on more Apple hardware ? Maybe some kind of HomePod at some point just to compare it against the competition because sometimes Alexa ticks me off and I’m not sure it’s actually the best option I’d skip the high end Apple monitor due to the price difference between it and non-Apple versions of it or competitors to it. I don’t do anything that would warrant spending the extra money on the Apple one, but if I did, then I’d consider buying it because anything actually better costs many times more money. It is one of the best displays you can buy for under $10,000, but while I’m willing to spend money on good products, I’m not made of _that much_ money.

This was a fantastic way of showcasing just how versatile the options really are at this point. I'm in the process of updating everything, and it really made me go back and question what I *actually* need for my work. So, ideally, my perfect setup would be: Macbook Pro 16'' M2 - Perfect for the work I'm doing and works just as well docked as it does on the field. iPad Pro 12.9'' + magic keyboard + Apple pencil - when I can't take the Macbook with me, this will serve perfectly for notes, writing, drawing, and even recording. iPhone 14 Pro Max - I need the battery life and the cameras, although if I got even a tad better battery life, I'd go with the Mini, and I'm devastated that Apple killed the model. Airpods Pro Max - I've tried them before and came away super impressed. I travel often, so anything with noise cancellation is a must, but I've found that my ears can't handle the plastic tips that in-ear models use. The blue ones are also gorgeous. Expensive, probably, but I figure these would last me the better part of a decade without any issue, and at that point it doesn't feel like that big of an investment. There's a level I'm willing to invest in things making my life easier and my workflow faster - and I feel that Apple offers that better than anyone else right now.

I'd love to see a followup where they use their dream setup for a while to see if they like it. Anothony was great as always, very practical and got a setup that while not inexpensive was very good value (as far as Apple goes). I'm now convinced that Dan needs to be in every video. His humor and insight is exactly the kind of thing I love to watch. What I'd really love is to see him talking about what he would use for a professional audio setup, what his process is like, and other educational stuff in the audio space. Nicole strikes me as a pretty well informed Apple enjoyer, she also got a pretty sensible setup, and her presence on screen was very nice. Dennis' purchasing decision, much like the rest of his on screen personality, is silly. Finally, Jonathan still seems to have the critical fanboy perspective nailed down, and I think that both his setup and reaction to the price showed that pretty well. you can buy a studio and keep the iMac screen. Luke made a video about it and how to do it, its awesome! i will do it too, considering that there's no other way to get a good payable 5k display... or in my case, buy both an old iMac 5k and the display power unit...

Antony, we all know is like the tech guru but what surprises me more is the fact that while Dan generally comes of as someone who doesn't seem to be showing a lot of interest when hosting a video, but the more I get to listen, get to know him and some of the things he does in his off-time, through this video I just found some new found respect for the person...

11:12 "does it have an unlock bootloader" - Dan, 2023
@hidazip Жыл бұрын
I've been a MacBook Pro user longer than I've been a PC gamer, but I never really bothered about the whole Apple ecosystem thing. It all started with the M1 iPad Pro. Just as Emily said, once you add one more Apple device, you just go full Apple in no time. I still use my custom desktop PC for gaming.

I remember first using an iMac in my 5th grade classroom, the school got a grant and our class got 5 of them. The trackpad was so interesting and fun to me, coming from my family's Windows XP desktop. They must have been the slim unibody iMacs, the generation before the Retina displays. I have never owned or used a desktop Mac since then, but I have always wondered about one for basically everything a computer can do except for gaming. If I didn't play games on my PC, I would probably have one right now. I guess if I had to choose, I might get a Mac Mini M2 Pro for desktop and an iPad Air M1 for travel. If the iMac had M2 I'd get that instead of Mac Mini. I love the form factor of the iPad Mini, but I don't want to drop MBP money for desktop performance and portable. Apple TV 4K for sure, Apple Pencil for sure, Homepod Mini or regular gen 2 maybe? I love the look but hate the price of the Airpods Max. If I'm allowed to bring in my own keyboard, display, and iPhone 12 that I already own, my total is $2,787.44 USD. I kinda love it tbh...

My current Apple set-up, in terms of newer devices that I use regularly, consists of an M1 Mac Mini, an iPhone 11 and an iPhone 6s (which I use pretty much just for music, as it's the last iPhone with a headphone jack). I would probably get an M2 Pro Mac Mini, an M1 iPad Air, a current Apple Watch SE and the upcoming USB-C iPhone 15 as my dream Apple set-up. But I do already kinda have my dream set-up, in the sense that I've recently acquired and upgraded several amazing vintage Macs. I upgraded a 2013 trashcan Mac Pro with 64 GB of RAM and a 1 TB Samsung 980 NVMe SSD; I'd wanted a 2013 Mac Pro for ages, and now it has some awesome specs. I upgraded a 2010 5,1 cheesegrater Mac Pro with 48 GB of triple-channel memory and a 500 GB NVMe boot-drive (I installed the NVMe SSD earlier today, in fact). I installed an mSATA SSD, dual-booting Mac OS 9 and Tiger, in a beautiful iMac G4. I also installed dual SSDs in my 2008 first-gen MacBook Pro, which I named "Steve Martin".

I had the same struggle and wound up with the iMac for the looks. I don’t regret me choosing it over a faster machine, but I do regret Apple not releasing a model with more power! Also they missed out on a MacBook Air sale by not color matching them to the iMac…

@@easysneezy Depends on how official you want it. Technically no, it hasn't. But dammit, they better finally switch. Been holding on to my current phone for 2 additional year now, each time in the hope that they will finally make an iPhone with goddam USB-C. Nothing about Apple makes me hate them more than their stupid Lightning BS connector.

With no budget restrictions: Mac Studio or M2 Pro Mac mini with Pro Display XDR, iPad Pro 12.9-inch/Magic Keyboard/Pencil, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 8 (my Series 6 is Hermès, so I’d probably stick with that), AirPods Pro 2nd Gen. Although the only things I don’t already have on this list are the Mac/Display and the Series 8, and my iPad Pro is the 11-inch.
