@@DRobertson725 I haven't tried those apps- but I just did a 4 minute TEST with these apps open on A BASE M4 Mac mini: Lightroom working on layers, Photoshop creating AI image, CapCut, Finder scrubbing through RAW photos, Safari with 6 tabs, iMessage, notes, and activity monitor --- ALL WITHIN 1 MINUTE --- the memory shot up to 14gb and pressure went to yellow (which isn't bad) ON A BASE MAC MINI --- WITHIN THE SAME MINUTE - GENERATED THE AI BACKGROUND, STILL MASKED THE LAYERS ON LIGHTROOM, AND SCRUBBING ONLY LAGGED FOR HALF A SECOND. so the base m4 is INSANE. IF you can focus on one task at a time, and only have LR open, then move onto video production, THEN YOU ARE GOOD! but if you're the type of person that wants ALL open all of the time. Maybe just do 24gb base M4. As someone who been trough various non apple monitors on my mac studio, they all kinda suck. Not too big of a deal if you don't have a trained eye. I just did a 4-minute test with multiple apps open on a base M4 16gb RAM Mac mini. 💻 Apps Open: Lightroom (working on layers), Photoshop (creating an AI image), CapCut, Finder (scrubbing through RAW photos), Safari (6 tabs), iMessage, Notes, Activity Monitor. 🤯 🚀 Performance Results: Within 1 minute, the memory usage shot up to 14GB, and the memory pressure indicator turned yellow (which is still manageable). Tasks Completed: Generated the AI background in Photoshop, masked layers in Lightroom, experienced only a slight lag (half a second) when scrubbing photos in Finder. WITHIN 1 MINUTE. 📝 Conclusion: The base M4 Mac mini is incredibly capable. If you focus on one task at a time (e.g., have only Lightroom open while editing photos and then move to video production afterward), the base model with 16GB is more than enough! However, if you’re someone who likes having everything open simultaneously, you might want to consider upgrading to the 24GB version of the base M4. 💻 My Choice: Personally, I’m opting for the M4 Pro (12-core) base configuration because I work at a fast pace after a few years of the same workflow. But for anyone working at a more normal pace, focusing on one thing at a time, the BASE M4 (16GB) at $599 (or $499 with student/military discount) is an excellent choice. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps! 🙌

Thanks for the small great job of stressing your Mac mini... I bought the very basic configuration with M4 because it makes sense for what I usually do with my MacBook Pro M1 with only 8Gbs RAM which I still plan to keep using. However with less of the stuff / apps that u have opened my RAM has already passed the 11Gbs of usage - the trading sw I use (ThinkorSwim) , Safari and Chrome, streaming something very basic.... I am not sure if the 16Gbs will make it when I start working for real tomorrow... I have not even opened Garage Band or any other sw that would stress GPU usage. I guess M4 ends up consuming &out of the box( much more RAM than previous apple processors... I would recommend - to keep it safe - to upgrade in RAM and also in SSD... from the get go.

So I was very clear with the people at the Apple Store about it... I was offered a discount for the 24GB which I didn't ask for, cause it was not the point. They just shouldn't be gloating about the 16GB, knowing it is a resource that Sequoia or the new processor uses intensively, I wonder how many resources could be exhausted by the M4 Pro too... but I just couldn't afford the time. I also just noticed that Sequoia never downloaded to my MacBook Pro M1 when autoupdate is on, I guess M1 probably can't take it... and I am not really willing to try...

Leaving a mini in sleep mode still uses power if it's an editing system. Drives attached use power. This is a design flaw that Apple needs to correct. Like Marques Brownlee said, there's some guy who's job is to take a perfect product and throw a monkey wrench, however small, into the design.

is the 256 GB storage slower than 512 GB storage?

All these types of video are just the same from almost all channels. Nothing new since the leaks. At this point we are interested in performance of real world tasks.

What a small piece of wonder. How did they ever came up with this stuff. The lovely sponsor block extension for chrome and safari removed the useless sponsor messages in the video

I guess he had to buy one for the review, but seriously, what he is using the M4 Pro for is a waste of money. A base M2 Mac mini would have done just fine for podcasting. Zero need to upgrade from a M2 Pro mini.

New sub here. Great channel. Would you be so kind as to answer a few questions. I mostly use Final Cut Pro & Photoshop to create videos on my Billy Luna Crime Stories YT channel. I am working in 1080p, but plan to start working in 4k. Currently I am Using a Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD (2TB & 4TB) to edit off whilst using FCP. 1) For my needs, which exact configuration of the new M4 Mac Mini should I get? (Pro or no, RAM, SSD) 2) Can I get maximum speed via Thunderbolt 4 or 5 using a Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD? 3) Is there any speed or performance advantage in going with a 1 TB SSD vs 512? I would really like to save $ by not going with the pricey Apple storage & sticking with the externals. Thank you!

Who really care about a SD or a MicroSD slot? A small USB-C hub with these slots and USB-A and … cost next to nothing. Professional using CF-Express needs an outside dongle anyhow.

New Mac Mini 16 GB RAM 256 GB SSD 10-10 cores for $599 is a really good price point ! Now get this, compared to the exact same specs on an 24" iMac, you're paying $900 extra for a 24" screen which is TOTAL BULLS$$T !!!
