This was a great video that really talked about the daily life of a VoiceOver user and thats what I loved about this! I think that its such a wonderful thing for our generation to have really lived through the evolution of accessible products and to see how technology has come on in leaps and bounds to aid people like us in recent years. Fantastic video!

Definitely agreed. It's pretty shocking to realize how fast assistive technology as advanced in such a short time.

Wonderful video. I have been a voiceover user for the past three years and find it invaluable in my day today life. Going to post to my Facebook wall. It answers a lot of questions my sighted friends have about my use of my iPhone. Keep up the great work.

I always find it interesting when sighted people ask how folks like us use cell phones or tablets or computers. It’s because the answer is in their settings. They just don’t know where to find them. It’s also interesting when you hear that reaction where they didn’t know that these kinds of features came already installed.

Nice work on the video! Uou can definitely tell how much voiceover/accessibility has made a difference in your life personally. Just comes to show you hpw small changes make a world of a difference

It’s made quite a difference really. I think it’s great that it’s prevented me from having many more days of eye strain.

Hi I love watching this video I watch it all the time on Repeat and also the rest of your videos they're very entertaining and useful for vision impaired people like ourselves well done love your videos I'm vision impaired I'm legally blind I use talk back on my cell phone all the time

Thanks for watching. Screen readers are awesome aren't they? Well, when they're able to read things properly, but then again if that happens that's usually because of a site or app not being accessible and not really the screen reader.

Hey Juan - loved listening to your video - very interesting and insightful. You have been extremely helpful to me personally on my VoiceOver journey, and I am so thankful for that. I tried to convince myself that I would never need to use VoiceOver, as I could manage with the magnifier/zoom accessibility features, but, over time, this has become more and more difficult - so, I agree with you totally - Voiceover is amazing technology for sure.
@JuanAlcazar4 жыл бұрын
Hey Terry. I appreciate you saying that. I really do still like zoom magnification though. But like I said in the video, I’m finding myself using voiceover for more things. Hoping that the feature has gotten less intimidating for you now that you are practicing on it.

It’s seriously such a handy tool. Have you played around with trying to make customizable gestures?

JC5 Productions I forgot all about customizing gestures. I’ll play around with it later.

I love using voice over i use it all the time when I have a lot of messages to be read to me or if I need to dictate a message that is a long message and have the phone read it back to me as I dictate it it comes in handy
@JuanAlcazar3 жыл бұрын
It’s extremely handy for those long emails, articles or texts. It’s a nice advantage when you have a fast speaking rate since it will likely read faster than most sighted folks can.

@@JuanAlcazar if you don't mind me asking do you have any useful vision to use the magnifier on the phone and also Zoom magnification
@JuanAlcazar3 жыл бұрын
I do have some remaining vision, but it’s getting more difficult for me to use features like Zoom magnification. I still can, and it’s useful, but I’m relying more on VoiceOver these days.
@larrytestut46553 жыл бұрын
Yes I and if I dictate a message that is a long message then voiceover will read it back to me

This may be a random question, but could you do a video, or some videos on how you go about being a blind film maker? I’m legally blind as well, and am interested in photography, but don’t know how to get around certain obstacles, for example editing, or even composing more complex shots. Even though it seems like your a film maker, not a photographer, it’d be nice to hear some tips on how you do film making.
@JuanAlcazar4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve thought of possibly making a few more videos about it. With that being said however I do have a video talking about how I make films legally blind. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eILQoIhuo9OfhrM

What kind of battery life are you getting out of your devices when you have screen curtain enabled? I would imagine that improves the battery tremendously.
@JuanAlcazar Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I haven’t noticed if I’ve had long battery life from my 13 Pro. I do however get over a day of battery life if I’m using it more heavily. The only time that wouldn’t be the case is if I’m filming video with it, but even then I can film for a few hours or so before I get to 20 percent.

Are there any tutorials on vice over? Especially for music , I want to teach my blind father using his iphone.
@JuanAlcazar4 жыл бұрын
There's a great tutorial series from the Hadley institute for the blind and visually impaired. You can find them here on KZbin. Just search Hadley and they'll have tutorials for VO for the iPhone, iPad, etc.

Hey Juan, thanks for the great video. Have you had any problems with live video chats using voiceover? I have to turn voiceover off to post in a live chat and then put it back on to read the rest of the life posts I have an Apple 10 max still learning all voiceover commands but any help would be appreciated thanks
@JuanAlcazar4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, and which platform are you using to video chat?
@kimberlyfetterman8664 жыл бұрын
JC5 Productions sorry for not giving you more information on. I watch different live video chats on KZbin. When I try to add a comment to other peoples live chats is when I have the problem I have never personally initiated a live chat. I use my Apple iPhone X. Example, I posted a couple chats when you and Justin Holland and Cody and another gentleman did a live chat I had to turn off my voice over to add any comments. I did it as a dictation. And then went back turn on voiceover to read the comments LOL
@JuanAlcazar4 жыл бұрын
Just letting you know that you can actually toggle voice dictation with voiceover turned on. Just two finger double tap when you are ready to type and it will start voice dictation. Then when you’re done just two finger double tap again and voiceover will even read back what you said.

Will Voiceover work on Apple news Plus?
@JuanAlcazar3 жыл бұрын
That’s actually one of their services that I don’t have so I can’t comment on that. Although, that being said, VO should work since everything else, or the vast majority of what Apple creates has VoiceOver compatibility.
