Just have to say, another type of emergency, we had a earth quake in Portugal a week ago. There was only talk that some Android phone alerted people. iPhone did not alert anyone.

@@Flop666 Maybe but I've heard you need internet on for it to work. Could be Google sending it out, if it was the carrier it would send it to iPhones too, right? The feature is in the phone, it even has a simulation button with tips. It's in the Safety and Emergency section, called Earthquake Alerts. A friends wife woke up with this and thought it was the 100% battery alert LOL woke my friend saying her phone was going crazy and then slept again

You can dail 911 in europe and your carrier will automatically transfer it to the correct emergency center. Same as i can call 112 in the US and will be redirected to 911.

Wrong. Google partnered Skylo. Skylo uses satellites from Viasat, Ligado Networks and TerreStar. These satellites are in a geosynchronous orbit, SpaceX's skylink is not.

I just don't get it. We pay a lot for these phones. Also this is a critical emergency solution. So why isn't it a proper included solution for emergencies. The tech is there and then oh sorry you were lost and injured and need help but you haven't paid so die... @@mihalyadrianbengo9615 because satcom access is very expensive. Neither Google nor Apple are companies with their own satellites so they’re piggy backing off of a third party satellite most likely. Each person who buys these satcom enabled phones are added to the “access list” automatically so should something happen they aren’t going through a tedious process of being added on. Also you gotta think about going across international lines, Apple and Google has to work with various countries to get their ok to use their satellites for those citizens. It’s not a cheap process, tbh 2 years is pretty generous, they’re eating up a lot of costs in hopes that this pays off.
