Apple Silicone vs Leather vs Clear Case for iPhone 14 / 14 Pro | Which is Best?

I have all three. A black leather one for more formal / work occasions, the red silicone case for the weekend and the clear one for when I want to see the phone as I have the silver iPhone 14 Pro and think it is a beautiful looking phone. Sometimes when I am feeling brave I won't use a case at all, but that is only usually in the house where if it drops onto the carpet there won't be any damage.

Here are my positives and negatives on each: (using iPhone 14 Pro) Clear Case: + Visual (your phone color shines) + Easy to clean - Power and volume buttons need more force to work compared to silicone and leather - Does not cover the bottom - The fit it's not perfect and you will be upset because the case will squeak a bit in some parts - Can easily slip from your hands or in the table - The magnets aren't strong as the silicone or leather Silicone: + Excelent grip + Covers the bottom + Power and volume easy to click (not that easy to press accidentally) + More colours + Perfect fit + Good magnet - Can easily be dirty - Will be more slippery from a few months due to natural hands oils (but less than the Clear case) Leather: + Perfect grip level + Power and volume easy to click (not that easy to press accidentally) + Aesthetic is better than silicone + Perfect fit + Easier to clean than Silicone + The best magnet - Not much colours available - Easier to scratch than silicone I hope that helps!

I went to the Apple store and looked at all the cases, Apple silicone, leather, clear and the Otterbox silicon. I bought the orange leather case to go with the new yellow 14. Leather feels and looks so much more high end vs the silicone, especially the aluminum buttons on its side. I think it is worth the $10 price difference.

I’ve had the silicone case since November and so far so good. It is a dust/lint magnet and it has gotten pretty worn on the edges from daily use which resulted in it becoming too grippy. If I had to get another case it would have to be the leather one.

I got the clear case for my birthday in February 2022, and had it on all the time until I bought the saddle brown leather case in February this year (2023). The clear case never yellowed and looked pretty good but had a few scuffs and little cracks in the corner after dropping my phone a few times - never cracked the phone itself though, even when I dropped it pre-case! So far I am loving the leather case, it feels really nice and soft and it gives my blue 12 mini a different look.

I've used the leather and silicone, I've found both after 6-8 months deteriorate. The silicone started coming off and showed harder plastic underneath. The leather also can rip away. I've also had the leather cases split before at the bottom where the charging ports and speakers are, due to how thin it is at those parts. Overall prefer leather, nicer premium feel and looks good too

I’ve used the 3 of these cases. I honestly loved the leather case it’s my favorite of the 3 and it’s really durable, but I do recommend getting a darker color, the silicone case is good, but I do think it’s the least durable of the 3, and the clear case is the one I’m currently using. It’s great quality for a clear case, doesn’t yellow at all and it protects the phone well. Don’t think it’s worth the $49, but still a great clear case and the quality of the plastic is really good!

I like the leather case the most as well but for a slightly different reason. Lint seems to accumulate more readily on the silicon cases while the clear one feels stiff and rigid without enough protection as compared to the leather case.

The only Apple cases I've ever gotten for the 11, 12, 13, and 14 pro have been the hard clear case and I switch cases daily and have never scratched the phone. In fact, I've never scratched, cracked, or broken a phone in my life and by the time I upgrade or sell my phone, it's always in pristine condition as if it was first removed from the box.

The leather has the looks, the feel, and the durability. Plus it also ages the best, the ware over time gives it character. Definitely the best pick alongside the Silicone. The clear one is just a hit or miss case due to the bottom being fully open imo

Very educational and informative person on this subject. It helped me a lot for a preliminary overview. As a viewer my main concerns are something like dropping the phone on concrete, and scratching the phone when moving it around. It's all about how the case protects during accident situations. Not an Apple lover, but they make a good phone. They also make you pay a healthy price for their technology.

I also got them all because I couldnt decide + of my apple wallet.. got the midnight leather and silicone matching my wallet and the clear case for my iPhone 13 Pro Max in Sierra Blue.. the clear case is more for like days off when im out and about and really want to enjoy the nice color of my phone. Since dust likes to collect ( I take out my iPhone every evening and clean it with a microfibre cloth no matter which one of the cases i used) I havent yet seen many scrathes on the side of the iPhone which im sure would be different if I werent cleaning every day. For daily use and at work I definetly have to say my favorite is the midnight leather just more grippy vs the silicone that likes to attract dust and lint on the outside or the clear and its just a charm with the Sierra Blue Camera Bump and the midnight wallet especially when the sun hits them. Defintely go with the leather, im thinking about getting the brown leather case and wallet and doing a nice forced patina on them

I’ve had every single one of these cases and I have to say that the leather one has lasted me the longest. The clear one actually chipped after 3 days and the silicone would peel when I would drop it. The leather ages well and has a very premium feel and for just $10 extra it is totally worth it in my opinion.

Great review! I have had multiple iPhones and I have bought all 3 of the cases. They all have pros and cons but I do love them. I’m going to touch on something people don’t seem to know but I think they should. If you want a case that’s going to LAST the life of the phone and still hold its quality, the leather and the clear are the cases for you. As long as you don’t drop it too often, both cases over years still hold up amazing quality. The silicone is the LEAST durable and long lasting in my opinion. I never drop my phone and I work from home at a desk. Yet, within weeks small nicks form in the rubber. Not tearing, but small puncture holes on the corners and sides. Over years, the rubber loosens and slides off at the corners so throughout the day so you’d have to push your phone corner back in. It’s soft and a great case option but not forever, you will have to replace it.

I have the Midnight and Umber Leather that I go back and forth between on my 14 Pro Max. I honestly don’t care for the clear or silicon cases as the clear case attracts too many finger prints and the rubber silicon attracts too munch dust when you put it in your pocket. For me, Leather has always been the way to go as it adds such a premium feel to an already very premium phone.

Silicone case is the worst. It’s basically a lint magnet and sliding in and out of pockets gets very frustrating after a while. I have both leather and silicone case on my 13 pro and I love the feel and fit of the leather case for sure! Leaning towards getting the clear one now to complete my collection. I love the clear cases but lately the thing that bothers me is the white magsafe on them. I put a Spigen clear case on my iphone 14 pro because the spigen clear case gives you color options for the magsafe which if you get a darker color, blends in so well with the darker colored phones. I got the purple and the black magsafe on the case is barely visible.

Own and love the clear case due to showing off the elegance of the IPhone design. However after one pretty tough drop on tile floors has a nice crack in the corner of the case. So of the 3 definitely is the least durable. Would not recommend considering the price and poor durability.

I got three of the leather cases absolutely love them the feel in hand and the tactile buttons,the only downside is the colour of the leather wears away after few weeks. Today I got the clear case was real disappointed. The tactility of the buttons is awful but like the look and the open part of the bottom. I’d say go for the leather it feels great if u don’t mind the colour wear

I really love the leather case but if you're living in a hot country like me in Philippines the leather of the leather case breaks... Like you can peal the leather... So i move to the silicone which it can handle the heat very well...

I've experienced all three of these situations, and I must admit, I'm quite fond of both the transparent MagSafe case and the leather variant. These particular phones appeal to me because of their high-end construction, which is visually stunning. However, I wouldn't recommend the silicone option. I have the Apple Clear case with my 14 Pro and just picked up a black leather Mujjo case. I didn't like the fact that the bottom of the Clear case is open. Very annoying

I have the leather and clear case for my iPhone 13 Pro Max and it’s been great experience so far but I fear of cracking my screen so I use UAG Path Finder MagSafe case most of the time 😅
