VERY cool, I can't believe how thick those grants/scions got I remember the video when you first did them. Well done 😁

Nice! It’s hard to explain how exciting it is to see them grow to people who have not grafted their own trees. Let me know how they turn out!

@thechaosgardener I agree with you. I'm very excited especially as a new grafter and how amazingly fast the scions grow on an established tree. Just pre ordered another 55 scions. Happy grafting to you.

Thanks so much for sharing this! That’s really cool that you made a combination tree…so hopefully they could pollinate each other?! I’m hoping to start grafting in the next few months! I was thinking about buying just the rootstock next month and planting it for about 5 months, then whenever the scionwood is available which I believe would be March, I plan to graft that in. Does this sound like a good plan? I’m completely new to apple grafting or any grafting, but I’ve been learning a lot!

Absolutely! The thrill of getting fruit from trees you grafted yourself alone makes it worth it. Go for it! Let me know how it goes. If you have any questions let me know.

@@thechaosgardener thank you soooo much for responding! So will your two different varieties on the one tree pollinate each other or will you still need a pollinator tree?

They should pollinate each other. I have 16 apple trees over a half acre of 6 different varieties so either way I should be good in terms of pollination. Last year a late frost knocked off 95% of my apple flowers so I only got a small crop so I am hoping this next year is a decent crop.

Do you think those 2 grafts are going to fail in a few years since they will grow even more and push each other off?

No I think they will fuse into a super trunk but that’s a good question. I’ll keep everyone updated
