Excellent review, I just got mine on Friday and I agree with almost everything. The text clarity is outstanding. I have both a Quest 2 and 3 which I had been using everyday day for 3-4 hours. I’ve tried to use them for productivity tasks but couldn’t, this device I can. I tried to use the Quest 3 for watch videos while eating lunch or doing dishes and I couldn’t. The pass through video warping made me nauseous and the hand tracking kept fast forwarding the video and moving the windows around. The AVP was usable for this, it had the occasional miss click but for an early OS they’re generations ahead, it was usable. I tried to use the Q3 for watching movies but the avatar arms flying around and randomly extending out 20ft made it unusable. The AVP is a joy in comparison. When Apple reduces price and increases comfort in future products, I think they’ll dominate the Spatial computing market. Today it’s not for most people but for me personally it’s worth it. People hating on it should keep an open mind and book a demonstration. My biggest complaint is I can’t use it while drinking hot coffee.

The Vision Pro is great, and clarity is quite superior to the Quest 3, but I couldn’t justify the purchase for what it offers. I do have a suggestion for the Quest 3 regarding the hand tracking glitching. Turn off auto hand tracking and select hand tracking when double tapping the controller together. That fixed that glitching for me.

Data privacy is a huge issue that you need to address, Sebastian. Meta collects very personal data about your physiology from the Quest3 and uses it with its partners to monetize. Apple keeps your data private. (The terms and conditions of either are clear) It’s the reason I don’t use Facebook nor Instagram. WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted although their CEO quit a few years back after Meta’s CEO, his boss, reneged on a foundational promise to keep it anonymous. Once again, nice as the Quest3 is, Meta is taking your data for other commercial uses out of your control - Apple does not.

I've seen a number of AVP for productivity videos and all gloss over the ipad apps as they aren't virtual or spatial. The result is "there are no apps for AVP" being the judgement. Then they laud Quest, which has no apps for productivity (all of the apps are mobile browser windows) but has way more virtual experiences because it started off as a virtual platform. This has made it hard to see if the AVP could actually replace a large multi montior / ipad setup. Thank you for showing this off and helping some of us better understand what's available.

A tv in 1955 (when they first went to the mainstream market) was 3000 in today’s money. It is not implausible 5 years time most people will not watch TV much and will be using the AV 2 or 3 - it is clear to me that this is a re-definition of what home entertainment should be. It is really hard to watch a ‘normal’ TV or even a premium TV and if the AVP is available and I am alone i will prefer it over any other tv/home cinema. They need to figure out a way to easily allow you to watch a movie with your friends tho - but this is not difficult to achieve with software updates.

I have watched many reviews and i have found some points you missed a bit: - Device is 3500, but you forgot if you want more storage, you pay big for it. $4000 device if you want nice big storage, makes it even more expensive for Europe... Yikes. - Device is also very fragile. People forgot the battery at cable, still in their pockets, run away and pulled headset. Fell down and repair of 3500 headset is extremely expensive. It's because front is literally glued. Quest 3 may look cheaper but it will survive some drops (Quest 2 drop test explains it too) so why make so fragile device? The front can also even scratched if not well cared and stored with protection cover. - In productivity, the problem you cannot work for hours with it. It's heavy front, so many people will get tired at neck after some hours. Some people even said work in normal way with monitors is much faster and relaxing. No pain, you can look around and 2 monitors is also cheaper than 3500 headset. If you want program a lot code, headset is not great. You want type faster and not with virtual one. In short it's more meant to wear it short to check some production results. - Many Apple MacBooks cannot send 2 screens to headset. (might changed in future) so it's weird problem compared to Quest 3 headset with VD who can do 3 screens now. - Without controllers, it's clear it's not made for gaming. Even with PCVR, it may have great visuals, it's still not great due bad comfort side. And Quest 3 got already a lot 3rd party solutions for lower price, where Apple will only have exclusive expensive solutions (and bit limited too). Not great. - And 4K screen? Well, this will not more unique in the future, newer gen headsets will have it for much lower price if you ONLY want sharper screens and not the overall use of headset. - And if you are not Apple fanboy / big Apple user (with many Apple devices around) this headset is not good for you. - At last, device can get hot if used at almost full power... In short, it's more clear this headset is more business designed headset. For gaming (with PCVR) it's not good idea if you look more around. Still heavier and not good in comfort. And also fragile thing. If you move fast around and headset goes off, you better hope it will not damaged at front. It's just too expensive for gaming.
