Bought a broken AW 5 44mm cellular from Manhattan, NY. I accidentally damaged my force touch sensor when trying to replace the front glass only (didn't know it had force touch option I just thought it was the adhesive for the screen 😅) so I now ordered a new one. The watch arrived with partial touch, so I also had to reorder a new glass + touch digitizer basically making the same restoration as yours. Never had I separated glass from a digitizer of a Watch or iPhone, but now I have experience in doing fine repairs like these! Thanks FIXD! Great explanation. By the way I also didn't have that magnetic suction / heat device you show. I had a heat mat for germinating seeds 😂

Been watching your Apple Watch videos and they are brilliant with the amount of detail and clear concise instructions. I have an Apple Watch Series 4 and I cannot get Wi-Fi to even detect networks. I have replaced the battery and screen as it was smashed with a screen from another iCloud locked series 4. I have also replaced the screen flex as one of the traces on the NFC flex was damaged. The watch turns on and pairs to my iPhone but it just wont find any Wi-Fi networks, the golden contact on the left side of the tapic engine got broken off so I replace it but I am starting to think the flex cable that goes underneath the taptic engine that is solder to the board is broken. I cant see anyway to test it or what does does. I presume you can't replace this flex cable?

Son thankful for your videos. I too had the same issue of the force touch sensor being damaged as well. I got everything replaced and working but my screen isn’t sticking down well. I took time to clean the surfaces before hand but doesn’t stick well. Maybe heat a little? Any suggestions?

whats the difference between the glass with digitizer and the glass? replace the glass with digitizer is not a better option?

Great question. Digitizer refers to the touch portion of the screen. The layers of the screen go glass, adhesive, digitizer, adhesive, polarizer then the display. Sometimes the digitizer is damaged when the glass breaks, other times it’s damaged while the glass is being removed. If one can avoid replacing the digitizer it’s better for everyone. The cost is less and the watch remains more original. Sometimes it’s inevitable that the digitizer needs to be replaced or the touch won’t work properly or sometimes not at all. Hope this helps.

Is there a way to replace the screen without sacrificing Apple Pay? Per the item description for the replacement screens on the IFIXIT site’s store, there is a note at the bottom that says: “When replacing the screen with a different part, it disables the NFC antenna, used for things like Apple Pay. There appears to be no easy fix for this right now. “ If I am reading this correctly, it means it is impossible to replace the Series 4 screen without loosing the functions of your NFC antenna. In other words, to replace a broken screen yourself you will trade one broken thing for another - which is obviously silly. I suppose there is a chance I am reading this incorrectly though - and my fingers are crossed that this is the case (especially after seeing the price of repair from the Apple Store).
