Tbh if they can’t adapt the product to be thinner then they can’t increase battery life without making the preexisting product thicker which wouldn’t really be wise to do with the current standards for smart watch aesthetics. (For most the biggest reason why people go with an Apple Watch-they like the way it looks and matches their iPhone. I know there’s more to it than that but the general public doesn’t really look into tech as much as we do) This is a marketing scheme to buy them time to get that battery upgrade without losing market presence while transitioning. If they can make the battery just as effective as it is now in a thinner case, then down the road they can go back to a thicker case similar to past cases with a better battery without compromising the functionality of the watch. Then the device will slim down again, rinse and repeat. If the size of the watch is getting smaller, then obviously the battery has seen improvements even if they’re not practically identifiable. The improvement we’re getting now we actually see in a few years from now most likely.

FaceID would be so intuitive-the simple act of looking at my Apple Watch would unlock it. The FaceID feature could be further secured by linking it with sensing that you're wearing the Watch, AND the accelerometers sensing the action of raising your arm and angling it so that you're looking at the watch face. This could make sure that you are consciously/deliberately intending to activate it rather than someone removed it and pointed it at your face. Could even be linked to your biometrics-if it detects rapidly increased stress levels (e.g., sudden jump in heart rate because you're being mugged), the Watch could stay locked, and even lock your iPhone and/or iPad if it's on your person; depending, of course, on how you've configured your security settings.

I think magnetic band is a bad idea for a one reason, some professions might have their watch more of a chance to break since it can get caught onto objects like walls or something and rip the watch off from the band making the watch more prone to break especially if the magnets aren't gonna be strong. Look at magsafe, sure its a good idea, but it isn't exactly perfect. I get Apple likes to do things to add new features, but I feel like magnetic watch bands is a bad idea once you use it in daily usage and they could've found a way to make the watch bands thinner or something.

Bro, I swear this happens every year, they announce some amazing breakthroughs, and then they just release the same product, incremented with 10% better features. This is apple! They will probably add one feature presented in this video and slowly add the others in the following years. That being said all these features will be available in 4-5 yrs from now. What I want to say is, take this with a pinch of salt and if you have a watch 7,8, or 9 maybe keep it for another year or two.

Reinvents the form factor? It looks almost exactly the same. Apple touted this big change that would potentially rub fans the wrong way. This is almost identical with the same tired list of small updates it’s comical. Thinner bezels. More slender. New SIP. None of this is unique or interesting. The watch needs to completely overhaul its shape for freshness (not saying I dislike the current shape), and increase battery to a week. Those are the only really important points. The software isn’t impressive. It’s like phones…they’re all just incremental updates at this point. I want the Samsung fold of the Apple Watch form factor shift. Completely new!

All watches before the Apple Watch were NOT round. I have an analog watch that is square, also the Pebble watch, launching in 2012, which was a smart watch was a rectangle. Sony also had a smart watch out in 2012 that was a square with rounded corners. I love apple, but their form factor was nothing special or amazing at the time, what apple did with the software and connection to the phone is what made it a marvel.

If Apple changes to a magnetic band connector in the new watch I REALLY hope that they also find a way to continue supporting existing bands too! Over the last decade I've cultivated a pretty large collection of bands that I love wearing for different occasions. It'd be a shame if I and others were to lose the ability to use our existing band collections just because Apple wanted a little more space inside the watch. Maybe this is a hot take, but I'd gladly give up getting a slightly larger battery if it means I can keep using my existing bands without issue.

We designed it so that the band connectors at the end aren’t removable, that way they wouldn’t take up the space that is required for them to slide in and out. Instead the watch bands are supposed to magnetically attach themselves to the band connectors at the end of the watch. Hope that makes sense!

Garmin is the walk away king of wearable sports and activities. However, they are hyper-focused on run, bike, swim and simply pay homage to all other activities, sleep, and health. I hope the magnets are good! I bought Apples Leather Magnetic link for my Apple Watch 9. It worked well, for Apple; after jumping out of a bus the Apple watch went from my hand to under the bus tire. I think the main problem with the ordinary Apple watch is battery time. With series 9 watch I had some trouble before destroing it, and I actually think it was a overheating problem as I used the Penauts Snoopy watch face, which was random and with a lot of movement.

It also means there is a period when you are not being tracked monitor.. if for example you are charging it overnight means you can't track your sleep. If you want to track your sleep then you will have less battery life in the morning when you need to use it.
