The satisfaction levels must be running pretty high at Apple right now. They have finally arrived at that stage when they are in almost full control of the whole software/hardware setup. For 25 years have I (and so many others) supported and waited for them to get to this point in their development where they can prove what Steve and his colleagues (back then) have always known about the importance of ultimate integration between hardware and software. In reality, the iPhone and iPad have already shown us how important “performance per watt” is. And with the M1 Apple have completed the transition over to not just a new type of chip-set but a whole new level of integration package for the Macs. Congratulations Apple and all future Mac users!

By the way, the intro, intermissions, end screens and the interaction reminders (annoying and repeated reminders to like and subscribe to the channel) are also submitted and can be skipped automatically. If you happen to also watch Linus Tech Tips, this is supeeer useful, since their videos usually contain 2 or 3 sponsored segments, and instead of pressing the arrow keys several times (like I used to), you can simply enjoy those segments being skipped automatically. In the case of Half of interesting, the videos will jump automatically to the actual content, and will end when the sponsored segment begins. No more repetitive Audible, Skillshare, Squarespace, NordVPN, etc sponsors in the video! The goal is for the transition to be as smooth as possible, like there are no cuts in the video, and the sponsors were not present in the video content at all. For maximum enjoyment, install uBlock Origin also, and remove all ads on the websites and/or content creators that you don't want to support (or just don't care to support). Also, if you'd like to take the combat with ads one step further, have a look into Pi-hole and what it can do for you.

The performance that comes from Apple Silicon is a byproduct of Apple's grand plan. I think Apple Silicon is just there to improve Project Catalyst; as you know, it's used to run apps cross-platform between iOS (and iPadOS) and macOS. I strongly believe that this is linked with Apple's foldable device idea too. Imagine a foldable iPhone that folds out o be an iPad, now imagine you can take this foldable iPhone and dock into something like Samsung Dex or Microsoft Continuum to make an iMac, and then you can dock that into something like the NextDock to make a MacBook. The only problem with this is apps which Apple is planning to fix using Project Catalyst which needs Apple Silicon. This will take Apple's Ecosystem to the next level. The only grey area would be the OS. Apple has said that they do not plan to merge iOS (and iPadOS) with macOS; some a lot of the elements in macOS are touch-friendly such as the control and the dock. Alternatively, they could keep making iOS (iPadOS) more and more powerful until it's powerful enough for most people to completely replace their laptops and desktop. If you think about it, that's what Apple has been trying to convey for the past couple of years with iPads. Microsoft tried to the same thing years ago and failed. If you remember, they tried having a unified OS across their devices: Windows Mobile, Windows 10 and Xbox which all had Windows 10 in their core. They also had something similar to Project Catalyst which was called Universal Windows Platform Apps (UWP) which would run across platforms. They also tried to push ARM to help UWP development. At the end of all this, they failed because Window Mobile did not take off. The only other company that can compete with Apple is Google. They already have ChromeOS and Android which actually run the same apps; Google has to step up because they already have the platforms just like Apple.

I would love to see a 16" Macbook Pro and/or an iMac with the M1 chip. That would blow my mind! The only downside is though that I won't be able to run Windows or even Linux on these new Macs. One of the things I appreciated wad that I was able to run Linux Mint on my old MacBook pro when I could no longer update past OS X El Capitan. It’s feels like the M1 MBs sells will go high as much as the iPhones

Some important professional softwares are only available for windows, that's why people buy it, not just for price.

I guess I am ditching XPS 13 for the Macbook air.

One problem I can see with lowering the price of the mac is that the macbook air, which is the historically least expensive (except for the short lived 12" macbook) and least powerful of the lineup is already powerful enough to do pro work on. For most folks that is all the power they will need for running ms word, outlook and a web browser. If you are going to lower the price, why will regular people (who make up the bulk of the sales) want the more expensive models? Sure they can try to starve it for storage, which is so embarrassing, but with everyone having several cloud accounts, storage is not such a big deal, and most people are dealing mostly with text anyway. A laptop has to be more expensive than an iPad pro to produce as it has all the components (except some cameras) bigger batteries, larger screen, more ports and a keyboard . It is hard to see how the economics work unless the M1 is cheap to produce.

You seem like a cool channel, but I don't know a single person who has a apple product that last's all day. The most I've seen (In my own experience) was 4-5 hours of constantly use. When I used to have an android device the battery life was more around 7-8 hours. That's my only statement though

3 years later we have M4 in an iPad and MacBook Air with M3 and MacBook Pro with M3 Pro and M3 Max. Along with there M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, and M1 Ultra. After that of course we have the M2, M2 Pro, M2,Max, and M2 Ultra. Now we are soon expecting the final M3 chip, the M3 Ultra. Along with that we’re expecting the rest of the M4 lineup.😊

Short answer: they were making the new iMac but intel boosted the time to make new chips and that meant Apple was stuck with a big intel processor which the iMac could not hold so Apple took it in their own hands and made the small but powerful m1 chip which was compatible with most Apple products so they stuck with it and now the iPad Pro, iMac and MacBook has the m1 chip.

Does this effect the amount of storage on the device?

I bought an M1 Mac mini for absolutely none of the reasons you brought up. Or to put it another way, that video was ..10:33 seconds.

And they will become even more popular if the people who bought them were able to fix or replaced broken parts on the product that they buy for a reasonable price.

I need to test drive this. I have had several PC and intel based Macs and if this is what they promised then this is most definitely a game changer.
