A caring, protective brother indeed makes a perfect duo with a younger sister who is still discovering themselves and life, when having grown up in an environment that encouraged creativity and growth - but still lacked things necessary for a fulfilled child. Capitalism gets in the way and sadly often takes a parent’s parenting abilities away because one parent at least needs to be a workhorse, thus missing out on their role as an integral person at home and in their family group.

@@SapphireTillIvanif you can get your hands on apple TV+ you get a big insight to the family dynamic when she first blew up. they’re so insanely supportive, emotionally mature, and vulnerable with each other. try to at least find the clip of her mom concerned about the subject matter of “listen before i go” and how she gives billie all the space to be open and honest about how depressed she was without fear of judgment. it’s insane to watch towards the end billie gets her license and goes to visit her bf who was way too old for her, and her dad gives a small monologue about letting your kids make mistakes and live life. that is a bit more contentious but i truly believe her parents fully trusted her decision-making

@@ilovebillieeilish1my interpretation is that finneas is very insecure, he’s just not as vocal as billie is. when they wrote together toward the beginning, he just wanted to be useful to a detriment. he would throw anything at the wall especially because billie’s songwriting wasn’t as strong. just whatever came to mind he would just suggest it whether it was good or bad because he wanted billie to value his ideas with additional context from other things he’s said, i think he struggles or once struggled with billie’s insane stardom and some people being like “finneas who??? billie sounds amazing though!!!” finneas gets his flowers plenty now but that’s what i think the significance of that comment is

The portion of the conversation beginning at around 23:30 is one of the most honest and vulnerable windows into the lives of creatives at this level that I've ever seen. Finneas talking about feeling disconnected from Billie and also feeling like the life he lives keeps him from having anything of value to say -- this is the curse of success for artists, and I honestly don't think I've ever seen someone who's currently in the thick of it having such clarity about it and actively trying to figure out how to work through that.

@@leif1075 A lot of artists write about problems they have in their life and I'm assuming he means that he feels like he has nothing to write about because he's so successful. that conversation abt WILDFLOWER hits me so harddd as someone who fell for her best friend, but she said she didn’t feel the same, yet showed me so much love and care that even to this day, two years since we last talked, there’s no way she didn’t feel an ounce of what i felt. but then our friendship ended over something that felt like i was betrayed. she had chosen the man, that i was abused by, over me.

Wildflower is about her situation w Jesse and Devon. She was friends w Devon and helped her through the breakup w Jesse and then ended up dating Jesse herself. She just couldn’t stop thinking abt the fact that she’s dating her friend’s ex. Something Jesse and Devon didn’t care about but Billie couldn’t get out of her head. So that’s what she means by “did I cross the line” and also girl code she mentioned in the interview

The whole album is a masterpiece but there is something so special about Wildflower. Something about the raw emotion of just feeling guilty or just feeling something even if everything is going well for you. I truly feel like that song is for people with good hearts who only want to be good to others and when you unintentionally hurt someone, it hits you in a way that you never thought of before. I"ve definitely felt that so many times in my life.

Like obviously it’s for us too, but they needed this more for themselves than anything. And it’s their best piece of work yet. It’s so raw and human and beautiful. It makes me want to dance and cry and laugh and go through all the emotions. 10/10.

That’s one of the most honest interviews I’ve seen. Very vulnerable as well. The album is beautiful, and gets even better with more listens. It doesn’t need to grow on you- that’s not what I mean. I mean it opens up, and exposes itself more and more. It allows the listener to be vulnerable as well. Certain tracks are uncomfortably comfortable. I’m so happy I live in the time of these two.

Being interviewed by someone who loves your work almost as much as you is such a great privilege for everyone involved including the audience. This felt like a private conversation betweens friends catching up that happened to have a camera in the room. Thank you Phineas and Billie for this amazing body of work and this interview. As a private person i know allowing someone into your home with your family talking about deeply personal passions is not comfortable.

It’s great how excited the interviewer is but he needs to let them speak more. Sometimes they go to explain something and he interrupts to explain it for them. Or when they wanted to show how they produced the music with the mic and everything he kinda didn’t let them? I would’ve loved to see that. Also everything he said about lunch was so off 😭😭 but def a great great interview. So glad to have this deep dive !

It’s very cool to see how much she has changed over the years. I remember watching her interviews back in 2018 after ‘don’t smile at me’ came out. She acted like herself and I never saw anything like it, even in child stars. However, She was so melancholic as well and you could definitely feel that when she talked about her lyrics and herself. Now when I see her, I feel a sense of calm and resolution. Like Finneas said, she went from just living life, possibly just surviving when she was younger, to understanding life. I did not fully notice until I saw her recent interviews, and it’s so stunning to see someone come into themselves and flourish like she has.
