how and when did you put the drive belt back on....................

Awesome! Thank you. I followed the directions and fixed my washer all by myself. Everything worked out perfectly. No more shake rattle and roll. And no need for a new machine.

Excellent and helpful video. I had to look up how to take off the hoses (prior to repair). Also, spring removal in the video looked much simpler than it actually is. Took me four hours to repair; I am very much a novice. Well worth the time and the $6 part.

I also had a tough time removing and replacing the springs, especially the two in the back, but discovered that tipping the tank toward the spring you're working on makes for a shorter stretch. You can tip the tank by wedging a cushion between the tank and the cabinet.

Those six Springs are easy with the back door on that one. My Maytag didn't have a back door. Was trying to do this job on a tiny washroom. That last spring in the back left corner is a nightmare had to change everything

Can't you lift the drum out wo remove motor?

Two comments, having done the job with no complications. 1. A lot is made of removing and replacing the big tub springs. There is a very safe and simple solution. I used a long prybar with a flat end. Insert it into the coil spring just below the top coils. A thin screwdriver inserted first opens the gap enough to get it in. Push it all the way in until well clamped and seated. Then use an appropriate length of 2 x 6 as a stable fulcrum. I used one about 4" long. Lever the spring up and off the upper hook. Replacement is the reverse. Very little effort is involved. 2. Getting the old snubber ring out and replaced was easier than expected. Loosening the six clamping bolts almost to their limit provided more than enough space. You can place your finger behind each one as you loosen it to feel that there is enough screw left in the thread to keep it safe. I found it easier to remove the pressure washer and plate at the base to access the 6 bolts. My old snubber ring seemed as good as the new. However, a thorough cleaning of the surfaces it was seated in, no lubrication, and replacement with the new ring completely cured my tub instability during spin cycle.

Great video. Got it done. A couple tips: (1) Rather than removing the motor, we just lifted the agitator straight out the top. (2) To make it easier to reattach the springs, we took them out and stuck a handful of nickels in each. Probably 8 would have meant no stretching at all -- but 5 made it so my 12-year-old son could reattach the springs. Then I had him pull out the coins and keep the change.Only weird thing: The knob for turning the washing machine on somehow got off kilter. It's about 180 degrees off -- so "regular wash" is now "delicate rinse." Probably a simple fix I'll have to look up and deal with later.

I have a Admiral-Maytag, top loader, washer (mod# LNC6766A00). The problem with this unit is that it shake's violently and walks a few feet. I already replaced the snubber ring, tub springs, and even the washer thrust bearing with pulley. The washer still shakes and walks from original position. My question is what else could be the issue with this machine, please help.

Great tip on placing 3 5/16 temporary bolts. What length should they be?
@appliancepartspros8 жыл бұрын
+chris 4 They need to be a little longer than the original screws. Like an inch or 1- 1/4 inch should work ok.

I'm from Europe, what does a snubber ring do? We don't have vertical axis top loaders here.
@appliancepartspros9 жыл бұрын
WittgensteinSergeant™ The snubber ring is a slick plastic ring the allows the inner washer assembly to move around during the wash cycles.

Tomorrow will be the second time I have replaced the snubber ring on my washing machine. You just can't kill a Maytag! After many years of use it begins to get fussy and insists on the load being rebalanced or it will walk out on me - literally! So a new snubber ring fixes it. Thanks for the revision on how to do the job.
