This is amazing Tony, most spray painters here in South Africa, especially in Durban my hometown, have forgotten the basics of painting Standox solventborne paint

Used standox a lot, liked it but we did used to have bad mottling on certain colours on bonnets and roofs, used to re thin and drop coat, not seen clear base, we used to coat the blend panel with fade out thinner before starting, this cut any static marks and let the base lay down near the blend edge, only big greif we had was the lacquer darkening up the blend panel edge on silvers and light met blues, standox answer was to 2 gun and use thinned lacquer on the blended panel edge.

Hi, thanks for the comments. Mottling control can be improved by: - - Paying attention to product mix. - Use the right thinner to match conditions and size/type of job. - Check your gun set and inlet pressure. - Use a slightly increased distance to the substrate for your second coat and do not - try to fully rewet. - If you see mottling/clouding after the second coat, flash off and apply a further even, controlled coat using close overlaps, do not fully rewet>

Could you explain the process or make a video about 3stage pearl with hardeners for Standox solvent base coat. Thanks

Thanks for the request which we will keep in mind. There is though far more attention these days on more suatinable, environmentally friendly refinish solutions such as waterborene basecoat.

Why would you take the risk with that tight door push blend and not just go into door blend. At least you can then guarantee the colour without any problems 100 percent of the time for the sake of a yard of tape and 5 minutes prep. This is what happens in loads of big shops who want to save 10th paint and scream when one goes pear shaped. Madness.

Hi thanks for your comments which in principle I would agree with. However, not every shop in every market would have the opportunity to extend the repair fop a variety of reasons and therefore this video is designed to demonstrate what is possible even with a confined blending space. Thanks again.
