yes.... we use the extrem clear 1.5 years and its an absolutly killer ..... lays down verry nice ... easy to handel and verry fast here in south scandinavia it is dry in 15 min. with fast hardener.. medium 20 min. slow 30 min.. a bit faster if it's raining .... k9600 is a bit more expensive but at the and of the day this clear is cheaper... after spraying you get out .. mixing the next color and in that time the paint is absolutly dry and ready to finish... no heating no flashup time before heating ... wow

Can you please make a video comparing the Standox water borne paints to 2K Urethane, how they differ in application, Etch Primer, Sealers, Blenders, Top Coat and Clear Coats. What the differences are for drying times etc. aimed at the DIY that has never used this type of paint. There are a lot of video's on KZbin but none concisely put the differences into one video with any authority.

Always liked standox shoot their paint but their clears for a spot painter like me, didn’t preform very well. The new extreme clear you mentioned maybe the ticket if I ever want to spend a lot of money. Nice video!

Hey gunny. I love your videos mate. You explain things very clearly and in depth which is awesome. Quick question for ya though in regards to 2k direct gloss. Is it possible to mix in 25-50% clear to the colour on your final top coat? My old man was a spray painter back in the 80’s and 90’s and when he was doing a resto on something of his own he would put a couple of coats of colour down,, wet rub, then add from memory 50/50 colour to clear, then 25% colour to 75% clear then a final coat of clear. And it made the gloss on those acrylic jobs super deep. Just wondering if it’s doable and or advisable with 2k direct gloss. Cheers mate

THANK YOU GUNNY! Long time follower love how your a local (aussie) and am between a cross roads from Glasurit and something else for my 96 Commodore, Panther Mica, spray job in the future (just need to work extra for cash). Im concerned about going top end (supposedly) or another good product, this Standox I've been interested to hear the real deal about it and knowing it hardens up is appealing to me over ceramic or whatever higher end glasuirt is. Would still be driven not hidden so going to be upset when its raining and the rest of wear and tear haha.

Hey mate, hope you don’t mind this question. - but based on a vid of yours 3 years ago on KZbin I was going to get a Devilbliss gpi for base - another Devilbliss gpi for clear and a Devilbliss flg5 for primer - I will be working mostly on LandRovers, old and new, so maybe you will suggest a sweeping brush instead - but just wondering if that’s still your advice for a good quality without throwing away money for that setup. Thanks I appreciate your time and advice, Tom

considering how good your finishes are, i wonder if you still do sanding of the clear after the paint job. i seem to prefer not touching the clear with sand paper if its as good as your finishes.

I have used that airdry clear its ok but i prefer a low bake clear . it runs realy fast you need to dry the basecoat a lot longer otherwise you will get pinholes all through it. and it does not have the best build either

Great review, I’d love to have that in my shop but my customers don’t pay enough money Ive got Mipa a scheme and they have a similar clear to the air dry, it’s called CX4 has a specific hardener but can be used with slower hardners for bigger jobs, it’s 2-1 with no thinner and is very versatile, stays open for quite a while and cures really quick just 15 mins at 60 degrees and great gloss and like that it’s rock hard, only downside is it’s got a short polishing window, after 2 days it’s hard to nib and polish Old rule of thumb used to be slower the drying better the gloss but not anymore they have really moved on Really tempted to get some of this but like to stick with the same brand I’m the same as you I don’t like to mix clear by volume I like to weight it off the computer for accuracy and you can make small increments to adjust in different temps Great work man

Do you know what the equivalent to this clear in spies/ permacron is? Or if there is an equivalent? At my shop we use spies 8180 or 8035. Curious if you have used those in the past as well.
