About the SCU Unhoused Initiative
Homelessness is one of the most pressing social justice needs of our time. According to the 2022 Point in Time Homelessness Survey, over 10,000 people are experiencing homelessness in Silicon Valley. Unhoused individuals are often stigmatized, criminalized and generally seen as a problem, rather than as individuals who deserve respect, dignity and all the usual benefits of being in a community. The Unhoused Initiative seeks to center the dignity of people experiencing homelessness in the discussion of our community response to it through research, events, University-wide engagement and community collaboration.
