@@user-nl3uv6yz9c As I experienced this, there were two things I learned to do. The first was to entrust my feelings to God and pray for the person and myself every time I thought of him. Instead of trying to overcome in my own strength (which didn’t work), I had to ask God for help trusting him and letting the person go into his care. The second was to wait for my heart to heal. I wanted to feel better right away and to stop thinking about him immediately, but I wasn’t trusting God molding me as I worked through the feelings. There were things God wanted me to learn as I dealt with my emotions, to run to him every time I started to get distracted by the person’s image. I had to learn to be patient with the Lord and with myself. Eventually, though I thought it impossible, God helped me truly move on and I stopped thinking about the person so much. I never stopped caring about the person as a brother in Christ, but he became God’s concern instead of my own. I’d love to hear Mark’s thoughts on this, too.

I've had similar thoughts about how and when someone is stuck in your head. Great video. For years, there was only one gal I was truly interested in, and I've finally managed to rid myself of thinking of her on a daily routine. God's sovereignty is amazing, but He used that problem for good when I started talking to this gal's sister via E-mail back in the early 2000s. Didn't end up with either of them, but what I got was a long distance accountability partner, and we pray for each other on a regular basis.

Sometimes it isn't the image but the voice which gets imprinted in your heart and soul. Words of love, affection and affirmation which you believed only to find it's a script by narcissist. Their voice takes on a sinister character after you've been mistreated and recall their once kind words. "He restores my soul" is a promise if we trust in God to complete His work in us. All 4 definitely relate. I pray to God now to release me from imaginative thoughts. What I mean by that is I think a lot and sometimes my daydreaming leads to creating scenarios in my head. I'm praying to detach from this way of thinking. Wishful thinking is great but not creating a false reality. Additionally, sometimes it gets me depressed because what I dream about and what I have in reality isn't true. So now when I start doing this, I say things such as, "I won't fall for the enemy's attack" or "Get behind me. I won't let you consume me ". I also pray simple prayers to God such as kingdom advancement prayers and just praising God in general. This has helped me a lot to keep away the day dreaming. I pray to God to keep my mind in the present moment and to not concern myself with the past and future. In regards to Point 4, we definitely have unfinished business. But I have also prayed to God and I have told God that I accept wholeheartedly if I never see this person again and if he we never get that closure. Because God revealed to me before this person can apologize to anyone, he has to first rebuild his relationship with Jehovah God. So I do my work, pray, and pray for his healing, but I am at the same time emotionally uninvesting from this person and trying my best to remove every image of him and his family etched in my mind.

I know this video is 2 years old but I think this worth saying. Almost 10 years ago now I went on a family vacation. My sister wanted to go to the pool so I went with her. I was in my early 20s and my sister is 7 years younger than me. There was a girl at the pool a little younger than my sister playing by herself. Naturally, my sister and I jump in and start playing with her. The girl told us her older sister was supposed to be down there but was too busy talking to her new boyfriend on the phone. Eventually we hear a voice call the girl's name. I looked up and saw the most beautiful woman that was about my age that I had ever seen, even to this day. She took one look at me and bolted back to the room. I never saw her again. I went years without even thinking about it, but then randomly her image pops into my head as clear as the day it happened.

I have intrusive thoughts of this guy and I am trying to change my mental patterns. I talked with my pastoral counselor about this and he said it’s rooted in my insecurity about not feeling good enough. They come and go when I am with my fiancé, and have used to cause me panic attacks when they would come. My fiancé knows my struggle with it and has helped me through it. Recently, any time these thoughts would come when I’m with my fiancé, it causes distress and fear spikes within me. It’s like I feel like trying to be a perfectionist about it but also I am trying to change my mental patterns to let it go and to trust in God. Heck there are even times when I trying about God’s word and truth and meditate on what Jesus has done and that causes distress, which I don’t get and understand. I pray to God and confess my sins for forgiveness and the cycle repeats, I sometimes feel stuck and trapped. Any thoughts of how to overcome this? Am I doing something wrong?

I would not equate a feeling with God's yes or no. But certainly we will need peace to hear him clearly. Sure, heartbeat would be some peace but I wouldn't over think it. You will know you are at peace when you feel it. Not being anxious is key to hearing God. Philippians 4 is helpful.

Some toxic people want you that addicted to them and idolizing them quite intentionally (well narcissists, of course. 🤮 They live and die to be the king or queen of someone else’s mind). Also anything that shoots up like a supernova will eventually crash down pretty hard. Mostly tho imo it’s a trauma bond. Addictions work the same way as well tho. Recovering addicts and alcoholics will also often report having dreams about the drugs or drink...Bcuz it’s so often been their “savior.”

Hi, thank you for this video. Ever since I was a kid, I've been visually attracted to a certain type of person. Since I became an adult, the attraction to that type has intensified, but I have never met this person in real life. I've had dreams about this one particular guy, I've never met in person, I've prayed for this person in real life for over 10 years and still not met him yet. What does it even mean??

May be that God wants you to know that your plan is not as grand as God's plan for you. As you wrote that you already prayed about this for 10 years, I would say may be it is best to submit it into the safe hands of Jesus and trust Him to send you the one that He has in plan for you. He likes to hear when you say, not my will but yours be done. God bless you, He has the best for you!

I am dealing with this exactly right now, but the problem is i don´t want to date that sister specifically, she talked to me years ago when i ended my previous relationship to help me, and she is kinda stuck in my head without me wanting it, i am not attracted to her physically nor mentally, but at the same time i can´t remove her "presence" even when asking God to do so, i told her i am not interested my I suspect she still likes me, i am kinda scared God might be "forcing" me into chosing her, does anyone have any ideias in how to deal with this?

God won't force you to marry someone you don't want to because marriage is an option for those who want it, not a command for all Christians. You may be thinking about her because she's the last person you had a romantic interaction with? Or you are just worrying God would make you marry her so you are thinking about this, but God wouldn't do that because again it's an option. Also, he wouldn't want his daughter with someone who didn't want to be there :) God bless!

I've experienced that with different guys... And would feel like God was making me observe them. But over time I concluded it was just obsessive, fear based thinking that I simply reject and try not to take seriously.
