4 years ago, at 22 years old i almost took my own life. I was abused as a kid, broken, depressed, anorexic, bulimic, suicidal. I went in & out of psych units like it was a game of Chess. Suicide watch. I was on enough Antidepressants to kill a horse. I hated myself. I wanted out. I wanted the pain to stop. The gaslighting* to end. *(when a psycho makes a sane person question their own sanity, and thus think they themselves are the insane one). I wanted power. I got into witchcraft. I thought it would give me the identity i wanted, to be set apart from people who hurt me. It only made me sicker. Sicker. Thats what it did to me. The doctors said i’d never get well. That i would suffer severe Chronic Manic depression, and never be well, that id be stuck on antidepressants all of my life. I would plot suicide on a daily basis, binging and purging my food as often as opening and closing a door. The pain was too real. People choked me. Assaulted me. Told me i was ugly, i felt worthless. Nothing ever got better. Then my mother died. The (1) & only soul who ever loved /emotionally supported me was removed from the earth. I was stuck living with people who broke me, ruined my identity, thus causing me to hate God. I thought God hated me, that he was just like the ones who tortured me, a family of abusers, who cover up all their actions with the mask of religion. I didnt know that God is on my side. I didnt know that Jesus would Love and Defend me, and fight for me and that He later would heal me, rescue me from Family. The ones who caused me pain. The ones who choked me for wearing a necklace. I moved out after family threatened to throw all my belongings on the front yard, and have me permanently institutionalized in an insane asylum, when they were the ones who caused my mental illness via abuse. They blamed me for the abuse they did to me. To take my life in an insane asylum when they were the ones who made me suicidal. Next morning i spoke with my dead moms parents who let me live with them. I stayed on the antidepressants, prescribed. But they only made me sicker. I got deeper and deeper into witchcraft, thinking it was a solution. But it made me even more suicidal. Self hatred was inescapable. All my cards have fallen down. I have nothing left. But out. I wanted out. I decided i was going to kill myself. I was going to take all my pills. But then Jesus stepped in. I didnt die. I surrendered my life to Jesus to make me well and heal me. The deity i blamed for me being abused wanted to heal me. He Was fighting for me and Loved me all along. He wanted to love me. He wanted to give me His Heart. HE LOVES ME. JESUS. LOVES. ME . Jesus miraculously healed me - i am off all drugs and dont need them and i dont have any mental illnesses. I am totally healed , full of joy. I’m now a born again Christian, in my 20’s who wants the entire world to know that JESUS WANTS TO HEAL YOU HE. LOVES. YOU.

A marriage counselor once said. “I have never had a couple come into my office for help and say, I wish we would have gotten married sooner.” Never rush this process and work on yourself BEFORE marriage. You will not attract a partner into your life any healthier than you are emotionally and relationally.

Ive noticed alot of christians my age are getting married so quickly based off of lust. While I believe loving the Lord is the most important thing two people should have in common when starting relationships I also believe there should be other things they have in common like similar hobbies, humor, personality etc. If you read the subreddit on christian marriages its pretty sad how alot of them dislike their spouses.

As a married woman I would say that the mentality of #2 is a major problem in marriage teachings today. If God has called two people to marry that *is* their calling. The woman needs to understand (see point #3) that when she marries, any additional calling her husband has is now her calling, or rather *their* calling. That's what "marriage" means, combining two things into a unit. The wife is to be a helpmeet to complete their calling. Often how that will happen is the two callings they did have will meld into a bigger, better calling! Other times they'll find that they are called to something different than they were when they were single. But there are also plenty of times when a woman, (if she was truly supposed to marry this man) will discover she is to lay down her calling for a while and work on his. The wife must enter the relationship with the attitude of, "what can I do to help?" and that makes becoming a unit much more feasible.

Saddly not sure if what I experienced would be of much help but can try. Being in this kind of marriage you have to die a thousand deaths. You have to die to your self daily and if you have children even more so. Yeshua said to put others before yourself. (I assure you it is very hard when you are not compatible) What I am still learning at this time is what our Lord showed me when engaging with my husband is the Lord will fight for you, you have only to be silent and also learning a soft word turns away wrath. Take everything to God in prayer at all times even in the midst of a fight. This vid is very helpful information to follow. I would add never marry quickly take time to know that person and ask the hard questions. I hope this was not to disappointing. May God bless you in your efforts!

I don't think anyone here understand the issue... I experienced almost the exact same issue. The question is "is she willing to be accountable and confess her sins of lying, hiding, secrets and sexual sin?" If she isn't willing to be healed from it then there's a problem because there's no reason to trust. She has to become trustworthy. To me he's saying she isn't trustworthy. The other question isn't, "Is he willing to man up?" In fact that's an abusive answer. The real question is "is he willing to sacrifice as Jesus sacrificed for our sins?" Please don't give superficial answers that may cause more pain...

This is SSSSSOOOO my husband and I!!!!! As soon as we said, "I do", he tried to change me into being what HE wanted me to be. And 15 years later, nothing has changed. He is STILL trying to make me something I'm not. He doesn't like it want I call him out on things. But he has NO PROBLEM calling ME out!!! He actually only married me to have "legal sex"!!! I didn't realize it at the time, but after a few months it came out about it in a round about way. HE says he's more "Christian" then me, but yet HE's the one who is egotistical. He thinks he's more Christian than our Pastor!!! He even told me that he doesn't think I'm going to go to Heaven because I still sin. I asked him what makes HIM think HE will go to Heaven for the way he treats me. He said because 'his faith is stronger'. As if MY faith is non-existent. I want OUT, but he says he will NEVER give me a divorce. He's been through one already, and he's not going through that again. So, am I his WIFE, OR his PRSIONER??? I WANT OUT!!!! He's not helping me any. I am disabled with limited movement. I can barely go from one room to another without struggling to walk. And he acts like I'm faking it, even though he's been to the doctor with me and seen all the X-rays, MRIs, and CAT scans. I have to FORCE myself to get up and do some things. If I don't, I know I will just lose all use of my limbs. That's why he thinks I'm faking it. He even complains that I don't take a shower long enough and that I wash my hands too much. Does THAT sound like a "loving husband" to you???? I WANT OUT!!!! But I can't just pack up and leave. The last time I did that, HE LOCKED ME OUT SO I COULDN'T COME BACK AND GET MY THINGS!!!! He has never been physically abusive, but he DOES scare me when he starts yelling at me. I don't know what to do!!!!!

Please go to your room in private and cry out to God- tell Him all your inner thoughts, anxieties, fears anger. Please give it all to God. Cast ALL your cares TO GOD to the point that nothing is left in your heart anymore because Yo have surrendered, you have submitted it all to Him. Ask God to come into your heart, ask God for repentence, ask God to forgive your husband. ask God to unite your marriage! Two imperfect people. You are not perfect and so is your husband. Jesus taught us not to retaliate, to turn the other cheek, to pray for others including your husband who hurt you- forgive him just as your Father in Heaven forgives you. When you see your husband abusive to you verbally- do not retaliate- imagine his soul in hell then you will have COMPASSION, and when you dont fight back you will heap coals in his head. if he is physically abusive, calmly tell him that you will distance yourself to prevent further quarrels so that you and him are safe

This is a good video. The only comment I'll make is on the past. Yes, we all have a past that we're not proud of but if the person in question isn't willing to talk about their past as a sign that they're healed from whatever it is; it's best to break up. Sometimes it isn't the fact that a person can't get over another's past, it's because of secrets of the past the person is keeping so therefore why or how is one supposed to trust. Can't have a relationship without trust.

I believe in this generation it is harder to be in one and I think many ppl will die alone never accomplishing an established relationship/marriage. The incompatibility may be things like one wants to have 1 child and the other a large family. My first husband felt incompatible because he was from another country, with different customs and expectations. I didn't realize this was such a big deal. I don't think he did either, until we were married 6 years. His dad died. He want back to his country to bury his father, and then concluded the problem was insurmountable. Whether or not we could have gotten past this is long gone. I think he used it as an excuse. For him he thought it would not work, and he left our marriage. Of course, it's better to uncover the non negotiatiables before getting married.

I saw many parents using the Bible to try to control and force their children to do as they wish or hence "they may go to hell for not honoring their parents" another one is the verse that says "Who ever spare the rod hate his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him" and I saw adults publicly humiliating and beating their children because they were "disrespectful" and use the Bible to justify their atrocious acts. I still believe in God but I saw so many people using the Bible to their own advantage to the detriment of others that I want to know how I can educate a child without becoming abusive

When I was about 19 I ask my grandma if I should marry a young woman or an older, more mature girl. She said get a young one so you can train her. No joke.

Hey Mark, thanks for the video! Can I get your advice? I am currently 9 months in relationship with a guy I knew from primary school, and God spoke to me about for years. His family lived together with mine for half a year, and after that we both moved to the same street. Then he went to a foreign country for years, and i moved to another city. When I got baptized at 20 i felt God speaking for years that he might be my husband. But it was just never the right time I guess, yet God made him come back to the netherlands and live again in the same village where I live. Anyway, long story short: He finally saw the light 7 years later and we got together. Both still virgins and waiting on marriage (we are now 28 and 29). And our personality's are very much alike. BUT! He has a heart/ calling for being a missionairy and traveling. Now I have never felt a specific calling, maybe only to be his wife. I am a teacher french right now, so I do speak two foreign languages. So I am open to a different future, but sometimes it also freaks me out. I'd say 80 percent of the time I feel a lot of peace about him and me. And then there's 20 % anxiety for the future? I also think it is spiritual battle... because God confirms it every time or comforts me. I guess coming from a lot of divorces in my family and non believers and moving a lot etc. Finally having a home and a job and a solid church etc. also feels very safe. Or am I too blind and in love to see this would not work out?

I posted some of this already in a stand-alone comment but as a married woman I would say that the mentality of #2 is a major problem in marriage teachings today. If your parents are alive, it is very important to get your father's approval of the young man. If you haven't done that, it could be a factor in your second-guessing. My advice to your situation, specifically, is to tell your significant other that you are having doubts so you want to put your relationship on hold while you pray separately for confirmation. Tell him that you want him and you to both to be sure. Tell him if, after you pray, if you are both sure, than the right thing to do is to get betrothed. No more boyfriend and girlfriend. In order for you to be able to be whole-heartedly his, he needs to be 100% committed to you.

God of Abraham! What does this expression mean, what kind of God is this? This is the God who is described in the Bible, this is the God to whom Abraham called, this is the God to whom the prophet Noah called to worship, this is the God whom Solomon and David worshiped, this is the God to whom Moses called and this is the God to whom he called and called to worship Jesus! This is God the Creator! And this is the God to whom the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and all the prophets, called to worship! It is this God, the God of Abraham, that is described in the Koran, and Islam does not recognize any other god! At what point did Christians push "the God of Abraham" into the background and start praying to the Saints, the Trinity, the prophet Jesus, Mary, the Holy Spirit, etc.? Why do you call Jesus the Lord, while all the prophets called the Lord, the Creator, the Creator, and did not say anything about the son of God? Who created Adam, peace be upon him, who created man, whom should we thank for our creation? Why do you pray and pray to the saints instead of praying and praying to the Creator? Are you not afraid of God who said in the Bible that he is Zealot? Think about what the Zealot means! I urge you to take the Koran in your hands and read what power is hidden in it! Peace!
