Applying Iron sulphate and fungicide to this lawn

This is a customers lawn who is fanatical about lawn care.. He is a guy who has a high end cylinder mower with attachments.. mows multiple times a week, and even applies additional products in between my visits.... and it all shows..
When I come here, the general rule is to "do whatever is needed' to keep it nice. It's good to come to these lawns, as I know we can make an even bigger difference (most typical customers aren't this fanatical, and are happy to keep the weeds down).
So in this video I show the fungicide and iron I am applying

We're past the mass leaf phase now - the last "strays" (oaks & some maples) are chaffed and mulched onto the lawns. To get a better breakdown into the soil we run a 15 inch diameter tow-behind rotary aerator behind the ride-on. Has the effect of the really feeding the turf. Reducing any compaction too. Then let the drizzle do the rest. The leaves we get in the main drop are chaffed & mixed with grass cuttings. With a good mixture we can get it composting at about 70-70c On the Iron sulphate theme. We by ours in in 25kg buckets in granular form. The buckets keep it dry until needed and come in handy later.

A lawn in fantastic condition for the time of year. Will need to have a follow up a bit later. As an aside, my dad used to wear insignia in the 80's. The aftershave of course! 😅. Bonus points if you can remember the words to the advert.

I bought the prokleen iron sulphate powder and it comes in a small tub. It is blue as well and is easy to mix using warm water in a small jug.

Hi Dunedin NZ here again. About to try spray iron sulfate. Knapsack came with a red fan tip. But I see they also make them with different outlet Hole sizes... Which one to use? Watched you video on spraying iron but still a bit nervous.. Thank you

Hi Perry here in the Uk I use a Lurmark DT7.5 for spraying iron. It's got a wider spray width, and let's more through so you have to pump faster.. Try with plain water first to get a feel for it so you avoid spraying onto paths first as it will stain them.. Leave a 1 foot square at the corner of the lawn when finished.. Step into the square, wipe feet, step off lawn, spray that last square so you're not transferring iron on your shoes.. Good luck

Hi Shaun, I have recently got into lawn care. I had patches, moss, weeds all sorts. I got rid of them all and I'm trying to keep it good. I aerated, scarified, added autumn/winter fertiliser and gypsum. Do you recommend iron sulphate throughout winter and a bit of seaweed? Great video Shaun, if you're ever in North London pop over and critique my lawn!

Personally in my business it's a soluble powder I use all the time.. Granules will take a bit longer to break down

Hi yes it's OK but won't react as much when it's not growing.. But grass does grow a bit over winter

I sprayed prokleen iron sulphate on the other day. 5g per litre directly on the moss. But not the surrounding areas. 5 days later it's still green. Do I up the dosage. Or do I have to spray around it as well. Secondly. Can I add seaweed and iron sulphate together to save time doing one individual spray for each? Thanks

Compost tea is a natural fungicide that can be used instead of the commercial products. But you have to complement this with good cultivation (aeration, scarifying, cutting) too. Don’t forget to have a rest over the Winter and enjoy some time with your family. 🙂

Insignia is bloody expensive

It goes a long way so not too bad.. Remember these are bulk for doing lots of lawns. I do charge more for these with the higher cost though
