A noob question: The focussing still has to be done manually. This just helps with detection and magnification of a focus point to make it easier? Twisting the lens is still required?
@Daniel_Zalman2 ай бұрын
@@lelandfitz1762 Yes, this feature just helps with detection and then allowing you to quickly magnify directly to the focus point, perfect focus, and quickly get back to the whole image. If you didn't need twist the focus ring, you'd be using autofocusing. The whole point of autofocus is that the user picks (or lets the camera pick) the focus point and the camera does the focusing bit. We've all zoomed in to perfect focus manually when possilbe, but it's time cosuming and hard with moving subjects and ultrawide apertures. This tech changes that dramaticaly In the Z6iii, Zf and. Z50ii, the subjects eyes are detected in MF mode, and zoom to 100% snaps to them and tracks them without any manipulation of the focus point. You're just there. @@johnpap9328 you really need to give this a more dedicated try. It gives you focus confirmation even with ancient AI lenses like my 105 2.5 AI. Just set the menu to have manual focus assist use wide area. Then you can direct the wide area box over the subject you desire and only thier eyes will be detected. Program your OK button to zoom to 100% and tapping it will zoom straight into the detected eye and track it. Nailing perfect focus even with my 50 1.0 is dead simple. My 8 year old can do it. I have a 90% perfect eye focus hit rate at F1.0 You really need to give this another shot. It's never been easier to manually focus a wide aperture lens. Certainly blows the old split screens out of the water. I used those for a decade too.

Only the Zf and 6III for now. Keep asking. Email them.

It would even be greater if it took the photo automatically when the box is green, even at multiple frames per second, just to be able to not bother about firing the shutter while focusing manually

I'll agree to disagree on that one. :-) I prefer to choose the shutter timing myself.

@@HudsonHenryPhoto me too but Focus trap is a great alternative for manual focusing. I mean if the photographer is already framing and focusing, the camera just takes the photo on time (it exists on some older DSLR cameras so why not on such advanced Z cameras ?)

It's certainly nothing I'd ever want to use, but I'm certainly not against it being an option for others.
