love your channel i had my gastric sleeve surgery on April 8, 2024 all going well my insurance covered a lot of the other services lab work etc for the exception of the actual surgery, i qualified for a medical grant that covered $123, 000 thousand dollars of the the entire hospital bill on the day of the surgery to include the gastric sleeve surgery, I paid 13,000 out of pocket

I’m just scared of where I’m headed I’m at my heaviest after 3 girls and I just had a baby 3 months ago I already have trouble walking across a parking lot and I can’t imagine me chasing after my lil one if I need too I’m having heart palpitations I can’t bend over for long to tie my shoe to me it’s not about looks it’s about being a better mother and sticking around longer to see my future grandchildren

I’ve been trying to get the surgery along with getting my hernia repaired but the just keep telling me my insurance doesn’t cover it. I call my insurance company they said the doctors have to submit codes. I’m so frustrated and I think I’m going to have to just pay out of pocket.

Don’t give up. I am working on the requirements for WLS. My insurance requires seeing the surgeon and physiology evaluation , yes there are codes that the dr, must use to get you approved. I have completed the paper work and I have to have a EGD AND UPPER GI before being moved for consultation. The drs known the codes that requires the approval for WLS. Call your insurance and ask what are requirements for WLS sometimes they will give the codes that’s required. My insurance representative was very helpful. Long story short. I had breast reduction surgery well I complained to my and I asked if he could write a letter his reply was this is not going to get you BR my reply I’m going to try I went to the surgeon and the first time it was denied.less than a week he called back and said it was approved,I called my insurance to check yes, you are approved and I was told the time I had to have surgery and it was scheduled. My next dr. Visit my then dr. asked about the surgery I stated yes it was approved he looked funny like oh. So, don’t give up continue on with your journey and good blessing😊

One doctor told me with my BMI I would be approved and referred me to a doctor who preforms the procedure, I make an appointment then they tell me my insurance doesn’t cover it. @Christinamalia I am going through the same situation. I started the 6 month process in Aug 2021. I am 40bmi, I also have a hiatal hernia. The denial letter stated that they don’t see it being a medical necessity. I ended up getting the letter of medical necessity from my primary dr a week ago, it was faxed that day. I’ve been calling my insurance company daily & they keep saying it hasn’t been received (even though my weight loss center “said it was faxed” 😒.) I will be praying for both of us in this stressful journey & that we get approved!

Get the cp codes yourself from the doctor then give your insurance the codes . They should be able to tell you if it will be covered

I agree, keto or carnivore can be great choices to try, however, I was on Keto and I lost a lot of weight but then depression and antidepressants and antipsychotics happened and it messed everything up. I am currently on carnivore, but I'm still considering doing the surgery honestly... I admit that I am rushed, and I want a fast result, but it's mostly because my bones are starting to hurt. However, I know for a fact that I need a behavioural intervention and a complete reformation of my thinking processes in regard to food before embarking on this journey. I just need something that's sustainable, where if I try to deviate it pushes back on track, you know? Perhaps this will help! My appointment with the consultant will be in a few days, so I'm kinda excited about that.
