You could do revision surgery, where they might make your sleeve smaller, but whether it can be done depends on your situation.

You are making errors in your presentation. 1. The RNY does NOT remove the stomach… only the VSG does that. 2. The RNY is theoretically reversible to a large extent, while the VSG is not.

Your right! In some cases a bypass is reversible, but the surgery is complicated and risky. So surgeons (at least the ones I work with) will usually only do it if it's actually causing you serious problems. It also depends on exactly how the bypass was done, and in some cases it cannot be safely reversed. I tend to just simplify it for patients and say that it's basically irreversible since there is no guarantee you can have your bypass reversed in the future, and even if it is reversed, your stomach will not likely work like it did before.

Since it can be reversed, does that mean the original stomach is closed off and stays in the body and doesnt cause any problems? Idk why but I thought they removed it like when they sleeve a portion of the stomach & pull it out. Wouldn't the empty stomach still cause extreme hunger by not being fed? I'm trying to learn about this because I just got reccomended for bariatric surgery, but this is the first I've heard of gastric bypass being reversible.
