Welcome to the real Blood War. With Yhwach making his move, we ain't playing no more. Craziest thing about this arc is that we ain't even to the Big Boy fights yet, it will only continue to escalate even more. Also, Ichigo's entrances gotta be the sauciest MC entrance in all of anime; him pulling up on Rukia's execution, when he pulled up on Aizen after his level up, him arriving late in the Sereitei in the first cour, and now this episode. Definitely iconic moments in Bleach.

As an anime only I personally don't like that it was extended as, to me, it ruins power scaling. Yhwach is the actual person we must defeat and Ichigo as the MC is supposed to be the foil to him specifically. I doubt Yhwach (even at his current level which I believe is still nerfed) would even have to lift a single finger to have ended every single one of them and so the fact that Ichigo was having to put forth any effort (even if limited) to defeat them and still not technically doing it gives me little reason to believe Ichigo is anywhere even quasi equal to Yhwach. Meaning that, if we assume, if it comes down to an Ichigo vs Yhwach winner decides the final out come type of deal then I can not accept Ichigo being able to beat Yhwach.

The fits are impeccable. Also, when Ichigo got surrounded, a part of me expected to just hear him go, Ban...Kai. Then just wipe the floor with everyone around him in seconds. It'd be way too early for him to show that, but a part of me wanted it. I've always loved when Ichigo is so much more powerful, he looks almost bored fighting those weaker than him and will just go straight hands till he needs to.

AMAZING episode! This was my favorite Ichigo entrance in the whole show like the 2nd place being back in the Soul Socity arc but this... was the coldest one! 17:13-17:52 feel like Ichigo was in a "panic mode" when he heard Yhwach can invade the Royal Palace he let his guard down and just ignored the others around him but could be your reasoning as well so I'm not deny it. Then we've got either of two options: 1: He got here in less that 100 minutes, thus not even the first of the 72 layers had time to mend itself, assuming each layer takes that amount of time. 2: It's not until he arrives, breaking the last layer, that they start to recover. 1 would be the best case scenario but even then I can see the anime moment of them being able to break them as long as it's not full powered.

If you think the dome is the 72-layer barrier, then your initial reply to the original comment doesn’t seem to make sense because the first option you give implies something else. It would also agree with the original comment? It says there’s 72 layers _between_ the Palace and Seireitei. There’s a lot of space between the 2 considering it takes a week with flashstep to traverse the distance. If it was just the dome, why not word it as _surrounding_ or _around_ the Seireitei? It would make more sense to have barriers leading up to the Palace in order to protect it rather than leaving it as open space and essentially having one, small dense barrier around the Seireitei. Mayuri also says, after explaining the Ouken clothes, “based on the regenerative rate of the Soul Shield Membrane (the dome), it will take 6,000 seconds before the _opening_ (could refer to the hole in the dome or the pathway made through the 72 or 71 layers existing beyond it) can close once more” which _could_ imply that the 72-layer barrier that exists _between_ the 2 places and the Soul Shield Membrane (dome) are separate things and based on the dome’s recovery speed, Mayuri could have mathematically estimated the recovery rate of the rest of the layers as well as they’re probably comparable to the dome. It’s honestly up to interpretation or it could just be insufficient writing. And as far as the method of transportation of the other 3, again, it isn’t all that clear. I don’t know what you mean by the Ouken clothes being destroyed. All four left with the Ouken clothes on. All four kept the Ouken clothes on upon entry. Ichigo’s outfit after he landed was the same outfit he left the palace in. Where were the clothes destroyed? Rukia and Renji’s disappeared after they used their bankai and Ichigo’s after he got hit with an attack. Renji and Rukia’s entrance had the same appearance as Ichigo’s: like a shooting star crashing into the ground. If they used the elevator, which is also an Ouken, we would’ve seen it and it would have came down as one separate entity instead of two (as Rukia and Renji did). Still, since it’s an Ouken, it should also break through the barrier and should’ve left an opening for Yhwach when any of those three arrived before Ichigo. And that would make Ichibe an idiot.

Spoiler: The Reason why Yachiru disappeared is simple. She is a Part of Kenpachi's bankai....Yes Kenpachi Activate a premature Bankai when he first touched his zanpakuto. The moment he activates his shikai, he undid this and she returned to the sword. yachiru's zanpakuto basocally has some of the hidden abilities of kenpachi's Bankai. So There is room for growth.

Yeah Ichigo is in his shikai here. As for how they managed to keep up with him later when he blitzed them at first, just gonna chalk that up to them being in their volstandig forms while earlier they were in base. Also loved that the girls got an extended fight scene vs. Ichigo.

Everyone’s mentioning that Kenny’s again wearing the eyepatch. I think he’s wearing one of habit instead of using it like he did before he fought Unohana. He won’t be shackling his power anymore. Unlocking his full power permanently was one of the objectives in him fighting her in the first place. It is a different eyepatch design than the power sucker eyepatch anyways…he probably got used to wearing one and it felt off not having it as part of his ensemble. Kubo’s a fashionista after all!! You're right about anime inconsistency with powers but I'd say in the beginning he used shunpo to get to Kenpachi and his shunpo speed and distance have greatly improved. Before we knew guys like Byakuya, Yoruichi, Yamamoto and Shunsui all had very impressive shunpo skills. Ichigo is now up there with them. He wasn't shunpo-ing to reach Ywach...although logically he should have.

Aizen might be an always shikai example too. We have never seen his zanpakuto change form in any way. It's the oddest zanpakuto ever. Aizen has lots of reatsu as well. OR Aizen has the most unique zanpakuto for no reason. Unlike other zanpakutos, his catchphrase undos the shikai instead of activating. Like when he did in front of Unohana for a demonstration.

Yeah the dual sword is shikai. Ichigo is still always in shikai never going back to his base zanpakuto. Also just as a show of pure power, Renji, and Rukia both had to use bankai to defeat a single Vollstandig sternritter and Shinji got one shot by bambis vollstandig. Ichigo just fought off 4 vollstandig sternritter without activating bankai, and had no damage done to him whatsoever, and still didn't break a sweat even when 4 more showed up. Ichigo is built different at the moment.
