stage 4 was a kit you could buy from APR. It included a fully built, balance shaft deleted, ported highfow head motor with a stage 3 turbo kit. Also, power does not denote a stage.

Only a handful of those were actually built to Stage 4 by APR which basically free’d up the head for more airflow to maximize the GTX2867. Most of those on 104 Octane make around 490whp.

What makes this Stage 4?

jonray74 the kit that APR did with this car was essentially in the works, therefore very few Mk6 has what this car has on it. It’s referred to as APR MAX R, meaning everything that they could do they did

@@maxwagner9986 I understand that, I know about Max R being a 470hp Golf R. But to call it Stage 4, I don't think so. I mean it has a small turbo GTX2867R. I've seen 526whp dyno of MK5's worthy to be called Stage 4.

jonray74 the boring of the high flow head, quif lsd, and custom fueling and stage 3 clutch allows this thing to throw a bigger turbo on with no problems

@@maxwagner9986 which is common for the FSI nowadays. Still won't convince me to call it Stage 4. If this makes 9 second 1/4 mile, then I'll rest my case. Heck I already seen a 10 second 1/4 mile MK6 Golf R APR Stage "3" with stock internals in Australia. To call this one though as Stage 4, this better make 9 second.

Props for being dedicated to your mk6 but all that work and APR parts and only 490 hp is super disappointing to me. The mk6 R, B8 S4, and numerous others just hit a freakin wall that makes anything beyond that diminished returns and not worth the cost of parts and labor. Now these facts don’t have much of an impact on devoted enthusiasts like yourself who are in it for the long haul and don’t mind that their cars aren’t going to be competitive with today’s tuner cars. The low power ceiling is why I’ve stopped putting any more $ into my mk6 R because it’s just not the best platform for decent power for today’s standards. Props for sticking with it when you could’ve started a build on a mk7 that would’ve gotten you that power with a lot less work and cost

Eüro Nasty I disagree. That R is capable of high 10’s and that is more than competitive with today’s cars.
