Nightwish played two festivals this weekend, Oulu friday, Kuopio saturday, I think there were 20k people in both. I'm going to see Nightwish August 14th Kaisaniemi Park Helsinki right beside the Central Railwaystation. I live half a mile away. Just Nightwish + a supporting act. I was in Rock in the City Festival in Kerava, 30 min. from Helsinki, Friday + Saturday. Couple of heavy shovers on Friday. You know many of the bands that played there: Turmion Kätilöt, Mokoma, Sonata Arctica, Kotiteollisuus, Amorphis. Uriah Heep was a positive surprise. The guitarist is an original member who founded the band 50 years ago. The opening act of the festival was Brother Firetribe, local band, it was founded in Kerava. Nightwish' Emppu used to play in BF. Have you seen "Kotiteollisuus Himosfestival 2010"? A 50 minute video. Very nice gig. The last song "Satu Peikoista", "A Fairytale About Trolls", is my favorite, heard it in Kerava! One Tuomas Holopainen on keys at Himos, also some Stam1na members on stage. The visitors are a great addition to Kotiteollisuus. How about Barathrum "Last Day in Heaven"? It makes me laugh. Profane Omen - "Disconnected"? Räjäyttäjät - "Kesäaika (Summertime)". Crazy band live. Räjäyttäjät = exploders A couple of totally crazy live versions of "Kesäaika" on YT. Audio not good but what the heck, it's the feeling that counts. Seksihullut another interesting band. Seksihullut = sexmaniacs These two bands play the same venue next weekend in Helsinki, no other bands. Tickets 15 euros. Have you heard "Darkwoods My Betrothed", dark metal. They are back after 10+ years. Tuomas Holopainen now a full member, used to bexan outside member way back then. He does not write songs for the band. Tuomas also used to play with Timo Rautiainen & Niskalaukaus (= a shot to the neck) some 15 years ago? There are videos on YT. In one video Timo tries to make Tuomas forget about Nightwish and join Niskalaukaus for good, lol. He asked the audience, they wanted Tuomas to join Niskalaukaus. A couple of old Nightwish performances I like very much: "Dead to the World" live at Summer Breeze 2002 remastered. Great performance, Marko vocals!!! "Elvenpath" live Tarja

She would have needed to make it her own version...just like Floor has done from many Anette and Tarja songs. Even that I still prefer Tarja's vocals on this one, I'm happy that Floor chosed to respect the original version and use operatic style. She did great. This song was the one that got me into Nightwish in 1998, so I know I'm biased to Tarja's voice...but like I said, this is great version too, and I really loved that she didn't changed it too much.

Yeah fair enough but Floor can't sing Amerath worth A F and Anette maybe not as consistent as Floor live she is by far the, superior recording artist. and, since her two albums are, classics and Floors are not what's your point?

Oh, yeah. Wishmaster was the very first album that we get to know this band... even though it was poorly burned by somebody who presented it to us. Some songs were not there, some songs were roughly cut-off and the rest of CD was some j-rock content.

From my understanding Marco did not leave the band entirely but is on a hiatus. So in a distant universe I have still hope that he might come back in 1 or 2 years. Maybe for the next album. I still think yukka is awesome and didn't he sing in Winter sun as well? So maybe with the time we get some harsher male vocals back. Troy is really great, but currently some of the contrast I was loving so much is missing. Anyways: Stargazers is awesome. One of my all time favorites.

Doesn't Jukka has to go back to Wintersun after the tour? He mentioned in the interview he has some time off Wintersun now but I guess Jari will need him back at some point. Would love for him to be able to do both like Kai but not sure how possible is that Also I think you haven't done The Islander, another big song from Tampere, you should do that next!

Wtf are Nightwish with Floor though? Still haven't worked that out. Compared to the era of Once, DPP and Storytime it seems to me they're a pretty poor shadow of what they were. When it comes to her own original nightwish songs it's a weird mix of pop, folk, film score and fake metal. With Tarja they were cutting edge metal and with Anette they changed into a great rock band. I just think with Floor theyre a weird musical theatre band thar come up with mundain uninspiring music.
