The guy doing the growls is Mark Jansen...and although not related to Floor Jansen, they were both in After Forever together back in the day :). Since you like this vid, you should check out the version of Sancta Terra with Floor from Epica's Retrospective show...it's awesome. Floor and Simone are good friends, and their chemistry on stage is really great. Also check out After Forever at some point. They were a great band, and there are a couple of pretty good live vids from their Progpower shows available...the Discord and Dreamflight vids are really good.

Great reaction guys, Epica is just an fantastic band Probably my favorite song by them and this album,Quantum Enigma, for me is the best Symphonic Metal album ever ! It's fucking perfect from the beginning to the end. Other songs by Epica that I really recommend are Cry For The Moon (classic song by them), Kingdom Of Heaven (14 minutes song, but the whole song is incredible); and from the last album I recommend The Holographic Principle (another epic long song) and Beyond The Matrix.

Simone Simmos is amazing and also you should listen to Storm the Sorrow as well, but this song rocks as well. Literally anything on TDC over NE lol. I don't think it's a bad song, it's just that within the Epica context it feels bad, and since it was a single, then it pops out every time someone googles them, which kind of annoys me a bit. I'm a fan of Evanescence and it's not really like them, it's like comparing apples and oranges. I like pop as well, so that's not it either. Luckily we have a sea of Epica songs that makes us place NE at the back end of the mind, lol.

You should listen to the Quantum Enigma, Design Your Universe, and The Holographic principle. Very good albums. Their older stuff is good too, very memorable for me, but a lot softer then you'd expect from them. Their last 3 albums very really hard metal.. They have done The Soundtrack for The Anime : Attack on Titan as well, that's a very different EPICA and so amazingly well done!..

Epica is symphonic metal, in the likes of After Forever, Nightwish, Within Temptation Tristania isn't symphonic metal. Not the same genre. Neither Tristania or Theatre of Tragedy invented the "beauty and the beast" vocal style of male harsh vocals with female operatic vocals. Epica doesn't owe anything to those bands. Btw Vibeke is my favorite metal singer, then Floor Jansen and Simone Simons
