Great finds Ken, especially since you were rushed out of the field. Glad the weather has cooperated with you and allowed you to do some looking this year. Take care man!

It was great to be out there, and despite the wind, it was a really pleasant day to be walking in that field. Good Luck next time you get back out there, I enjoy your videos a lot and I see that cool little bear you carved and sent to me everyday.

Glad the weather (and your back!) allowed you to get out and hunt before the fields were plowed!

Me too, the temp is supposed to hit 80 degrees in a couple of days then it is predicted to drop in the 40s after that for a few days. Typical Spring weather here in the Northeast.

Nice to have a clean field this time of the year to look in.

The field doesn't get any better than after a long winter and lots of rain for sure.

Awesome first group of finds for the year!! Looks like a great day of hunting!! Hope your back feels better.

Thanks Mike, I'm getting used to this back discomfort and I am glad I can still do the things I love to do. This getting old thing definitely comes with its challenges, LOL!

Those are some nice finds before the fields were even plowed. The fields around here definitely don’t have that much dirt exposed before they’re worked. Can’t wait to see what you find after some rains.

I think I could have found more if the farmer wasn't turning the land, but I was glad to see him out there, hopefully he turns up some more good finds for me.

Always nice to, no awesome to come home with artifacts , the weather has been awesome, have to get in my favorite creek before more rain comes
@Paleoman52 Жыл бұрын
You are so right, I have this little group of artifacts in a small case of their own. Good Luck when you get in those creeks!

Good to see you out saving some relics👍🏻

This truly was a rescue mission as the artifacts I found would have been plowed under in a few hours.

Great to see you found some nice points!

It truly made my day to find those points, even though most of them showed tip damage, I was glad to find them.

I was so glad I got on there when I did, I'm sure I would have found much more if I had went there the day before, but these pieces needed rescuing!

You've had a tremendous start to the 2023 season. Back brace might help in planting sesson

This is one of the best starts to my artifact hunting I have had in quite some time, there is nothing better than walking those fields in the Spring. I might be looking into a back brace soon.

Thanks Bushy for watching, I hope this is just the start of a great year of finding artifacts!

I've found flint chips that make me wonder if it's an actual point or if it's a "cloud that looks like a bunny rabbit" situation.
@Paleoman52 Жыл бұрын
Save those flakes Peter and let me take a look at them. As a flintknapper I can pretty much tell if a flake is natural or struck off a larger rock.

@@russcalabrese7561 The best thing about this site other than the amazing artifacts I find there is the view of the Genesee Valley to the East. Letchworth State Park is just below this field.
@russcalabrese7561 Жыл бұрын
@@Paleoman52 that view has to be amazing. Letchworth is breathtakingly beautiful,we usually make it there a couple times each summer. Been Scouting for some water access sites on the Genesee River further upstream. I'm excited for some river adventures this summer.

Ken, great finds! Glad you got out to rescue those artifacts before they turned it over. Is it just my imagination or did I see a grove on the hammer stone that could have been formed as it was also being used as an abrader?
@Paleoman52 Жыл бұрын
That is very possible, I'll have to check that stone over a little closer. I love those hard stone tools, especially the ones used to make arrowheads, scapers and knives.
