Your channel deserves so many more subscribers. So frustrating that a lot of the gardening KZbinrs with larger followings knowingly plant invasive plants.

Thank you for that kind compliment! 💚 I have definitely made many gardening mistakes along the way, but I am trying to be better and learn more every day - and share what I learn as much as I can - especially with respect to invasives and the importance of native plants! I'm glad you're enjoying! Thank you for the support 🙏😊💚

Thanks for the tour. I wouldn't be shy about scraping the bark of your serviceberry - you might see that the layer under the bark is green and that would be a really good sign. I couldn't say for sure from the look of it otherwise except that it didn't seem brittle when you handled it so crossing my fingers.

Thank you for the tip! I will give it a try - I am super crossing my fingers too! It's one of my favourites - I am so hoping for berries this year...!!!

@jeff burkeThanks for popping over to my channel - especially from so close nearby on the globe as well! I hope you're right! I do not have the best luck with serviceberries despite my love for them!! The stems from last year did not produce any leaves or flowers at all, but there is still hope - there is new growth coming from the base of the plant. I'm still disappointed, but hoping it'll bounce back!

Thanks for your videos! I just started gardening last year and your videos are so helpful! I just found you 3 days ago! Im also a fellow Canadian im Zone 5! I haven't watched all of them yet, but watched your April to Sept from the year before. I'm planning to get more native pollinators plants too! Would love to see how you integrated the native with other plants (even non native).

Hi there! Thank you for the compliments and support for my little gardening channel! I'm so glad my videos are helpful for you! To be honest, I'm intermixing the native plants and non natives all throughout my gardens! I have hostas with Canada anemone, Solomon's seal, and foamflower in my shady garden. In sunnier spots, I have asters, pale purple coneflower amidst sedum, snap dragons, and irises. Once you know the planting conditions (sunny, dry vs shady wet, etc), and you know how big the plant will get (or if it spreads etc), you can really just incorporate native plants just as you would non natives. Are you part of the Ontario Native Plant Gardening Facebook group? I learn SO much from that group. They give lots of ideas too re: which plants might be good for a particular space. I would definitely recommend joining that group if you're a fellow Ontarian!

@@TheSuburbanGardenista Thanks for the reply! :) I am not part of the group! I will seek it out. Thank you! I would love to see your intermixing, and wider shots of your garden. I likely will have a polinator/wild/native flower patch in the back of my garden. I also hope to put some natives into the main garden bed too! I know your focus is on the Native plants on your KZbin, but I think other viewers (hope I'm not the only one), that would love to see the rest of your garden, and how these natives interact with other more typical garden plants! Keep up the great work!

That sounds like a lovely plan for our pollinator patch and main garden. Thank you for the recommendation - I am about to do my recordings for May - I'll try to incorporate more wider shots and mention some of the non-natives to illustrate the blending that I'm doing. I'll also consider this for other videos as well - thank you for the recommendation ☺️
