Good evening Martin. Nice to see you again. May I start off by saying that the clarity and the audio from the laptop is perfect. Hmm. I never see Ravi Shankar singles. On His Masters Label to boot. One of my favorite UK labels. I have some very rare Morrissey promo singles on HMV. Plus I have a Viva Hate numbered promo that came out in a box that houses a CD, cassette, stills and a bio on His Masters Voice. That had to be one of your best eclectic thrift finds that I ever enjoyed. Each one was new to me. I enjoyed seeing the various 7" selections. Some cool ones for sure. Mostly eighties stuff that I loved. But the one single that I really liked more than anything else was the Vinyl Scavenger grail. So cool that you pressed that for yourself. Will you be doing any sales of it or giveaways of some sort in the near or distant future? If so please lets me/us know. I will surely buy it if you decide to do it. Thank you for sharing this half hour April update. Have a nice weekend and a Happy Easter to you and your family~ Rob/Boston

Hi Rob happy Easter weekend to you. Spring is upon us 😀 HMV is so iconic a label. Up there with the best known e.g. Parlophone = The Beatles. One lesser known one here is MFP music for pleasure, bargain label loads of great stuff released on it. I'll be doing a video on easy to find records here, makes sense to me and should be interesting to US viewers too, cheers Rob, Martin.

Hey there Martin ! I live for thrifting !!! Well.. family first.. Hehe 👪 Very nice 7" finds. If you ever make it out west here in the U.S. you would be amazed at what's out there at the charity shops here in Nevada.. Las Vegas, and my "stomping grounds" .. Reno ! Cheers. JT

Sounds great I'm already jealous. Being far bigger there must be tons of undiscovered records all over the place. I've seen this from couple of channels.

She looks lovely Richard, all American girl and wholesome? I'll check Wikipedia to find out. They were such different times then well my youth seems ages ago too 😁 I'm kinda into a bit of Americana 50/60s to the point it'd be my on my bucket list to come there and travel around a bit but I'm equally intrigued by the (how can I put it nicely?) Backwards backwaters of the states. I guess many there are curious about the original England and the UK too. It's fascinating differences.

Yes I'm still not sure about the album even though I have a copy and should like it. The song by them I really like is Grendel that is just something amazing very special epic - of Nightwish proportions.

A nice bunch of 80s 7s plus a few from further afield. You did well before the dealer muscled in. I guess you'll be visiting before Wednesdays in future.. Congratulations on getting the records pressed Martin, very impressive! The LP/12 selection was very Vinyl Scavenger...the Tony Hatch / Jackie Trent should be good...Good luck working through those...Grail video sounded a difficult watch...Have a good rest of the long weekend

Thanks yes about a tenner per record which isn't bad at all, I'll visit pre Wednesday or weekend, guessing you'll be busy this Easter delving somewhere or other (car boots? Reading?) I was going but had other commitments otherwise I'd have done a stall (I believe 'standing' is the official term) - sorry about the chairboys if you can make the playoffs you've got that chance it's very close this season. I went to Arsenal last Saturday so am still reeling from that.

@@Thevinylscavenger A win today but we've dropped too many points since the change of managers, so I think the play-offs are unlikely. I didn't go to Reading and car boots have been rubbish recently - but there's always next week...

Thanks for watching. I don't always do RSD particularly if I'm working but try to catch up on it the following week if there's much left. I don't have a local participating shop either which makes things more difficult.

I’ve got great memories of that Daisy Chainsaw single. I went to see them at the Southampton Joiners to promote that single the day after Nirvana had played near the bottom of the Bill at Reading in 91, I was wearing a Nirvana T-Shirt , which impressed this very pretty girl in the at The Joiners & managed to convince her I was an NME journalist! ..we ended up going out for 6 months..obviously after a week I had to confess that I sold advertising space for yellow pages! 😂

Hey, Martin! Blimey, that was a lot of records. I've got that Larry Hosford album, it's quite good. That said, I prefer his prievious album. He's kind of interesting, performing a progressive country somewhere between mainstream country and country rock. I always liked that Daisy Chainsaw tune. Nice finds.

You are right, that was too many. I just got a bit too carried away (again) they were there I nabbed them probably after the previous experience of the man clearing them up from under my nose like a hoover. Everyone loves Daisy Chainsaw! I think it encapsulated a certain time.

Sounds good Nick, I've a fair few old comedy records though probably most of them would be 'cancelled' now. The Wurzels album was so much like Bob Fleming from the Fast Show I think I will just keep it even though I bought as VCLT. I used to be able to recite Smith and Jones that kinda thing. One missing I no longer own I'll get at some point is the Spitting Image album truly hilarious. Cheers, Martin.

@@Thevinylscavenger Spitting Image.....what a fantastic programme that was,it broke the boundaries of comedy,especially satirical comedy. I visited a spitting Image exhibition in London 90/91. You were shown how the puppets were made and voiced etc... and treated to a bit of a show. It was really fascinating stuff 👍👍👍 Later that day me and a friend went on to wembley to watch England play Cameroon in a friendly. The day was tarnished a bit by a non football brawl I got involved with in a Covent gdn pub....the follies of a mispent youth !!!

Hey Martin Apologies, but for some reason I didn't see this video, then lo and behold it appeared and when I checked, it transpired that I was no longer subscribed to your channel??!!😮..don't know if you changed your settings or something..Well done on finding the Humphrey Littleton...I seem to recall Alan playing that..always enjoyed FB3. Nice ' personal' grails found, glad you got those back in your collection. 80s Elton..aaghh!!..as you say, only a quid. I stopped buying comedy albums because after playing once I never found myself wanting to hear them again. A Spanish Scavange would indeed be interesting..lots of vivacious, energetic guitars !.
@Thevinylscavenger Жыл бұрын
Oh 😮 I don't think I've changed any settings to the best of my knowledge. There will be like yourself a vivacious Spanish guitar 🎸 it's true. The grail was actually my own work not inferior dodgy 80s Elton but the Humphrey was Alan yes, he can be a little obscure at times but he knows his beans......

Oh, my! Don’t go starting rumors that I’m a Pat Boone fan. Pat had a fine voice, but he stained his reputation by going along with the industry scheme to cash in on the early rock ‘n’ roll craze by recording safer, easier-listening versions of black artists’ songs for white audiences. “Moody River,” the pop-country song of tragic love was more in Pat’s wheelhouse. Criticisms aside, you have piqued my curiosity about Pat’s early pop recordings. Being a major label star, some of the studio production may be fun to listen to on vinyl. Do you remember Pat’s heavy metal tribute album from 1997? His cover of “Crazy Train” was interesting. Pat wore Rob Halford-style leather gear to promote the album. These record diggers who crawl over or under you to get at records will share the same corner of Hell as those who talk loudly during quiet songs at concerts. (Disclaimer: This theological view is speculative.) Joe Venuti & Eddie Lang were a great jazz violin and guitar team that predated Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt. As with all LP releases of music from that era, the quality of the sound you’ll get will vary wildly. Venuti & Lang will be a fun listen if whoever produced that anthology was able to put any love into the project. Eddie Lang was a close friend of Bing Crosby. Bing encouraged his buddy to get a tonsillectomy that a doctor recommend as a cure for some minor ailments. Lang died following the surgery. We lost a pioneering legend of jazz guitar and Bing was plagued with the guilties for the rest of his life. Joe Venuti lived long enough to record during the stereo era. Good stuff, but I'm a sucker for jazz violin. John Lewis was the pianist in the Modern Jazz Quartet. He was a bit like Dave Brubeck in the sense that he had a background in academic/classical music that he liked to mix in with mid-century jazz. Fortunately for us cheapskates, John Lewis is uncool. I’ve picked up a few of his solo records in the clearance bins/shelves. I like some of Lewis’ musical experiments/explorations more than others. The Golden Striker starts off sounding like a Hollywood soundtrack from a period costume drama before getting into some playful exchanges between the brass and piano. There are also long passages where the brass section takes a break and you get a stripped down trio with piano, drums, and bass. The critic at AllMusic.com said that the album is boring and gave it two stars. The five user reviews give it a solid five-star rating. I like the record. If it had been released on Blue Note it would be cool (and too expensive.) Congratulations on your 7" release! Cheers, Jacob
