Interesting to see some different rolling stock on the ol' MBRR 😀

That gon there is probably a teaser of some kind for the MBRR... Aaron told me it's not done yet but it's getting there. We used it to move gravel. There was also a car that I brought with me that I actually 3D printed the wheels and the trucks for and bolted it onto a 4 foot long 2x6 board. It worked remarkably well, and didn't derail. Perhaps worth it's own video.

3D printed trucks made from PLA are barely strong enough to ride on, by the way. It makes a spicy crackling noise that makes it sound like it's about to break into 1,000 pieces.

I would like to see some side dumping log cars. They don't have to be powered we can simply be lifted on one side to roll the logs off
@JaredDunbar Жыл бұрын
You should make one :D Aaron probably wouldn't and this isn't my railroad (unfortunately! It's nice to visit though)

Did you film any track work ?
@JaredDunbar Жыл бұрын
I didn't film the work we did with the gravel and the switch that we replaced some ties on; his video that he posted (currently just on Patreon) for this day has some better shots than I got. I did film the leaf blower but it was mostly anticlimactic and a bunch of white noise. I was considering talking over it in post but decided it wasn't worth it since I didn't have much to talk about.

Why did the chicken cross the tracks?

Why don't you fix the areas where the trains keep derailing?
@JaredDunbar9 ай бұрын
This is a visit to Aaron’s track at the Mill Brook Railroad. He’s constantly in a state of doing maintenance on the track, and a lot of it is done reactively.

Good to know that the derailments are the real deal. I was beginning to think that Aaron was doing them intentionally to add drama and interest to his videos. :)
@JaredDunbar Жыл бұрын
That was also my initial impression... and then I rode on it. It certainly derails as much as he says it does. Gauge causes many of the issues but there are also some spots that are very quirky due to rail transitions or missing joiners or other reasons.

@@JaredDunbar I wasn't being serious of course. lol! Few of us ever want our trains to derail. It's just one of those things that happens. My own line consists mostly of donated secondhand track too, albeit steel instead of aluminum. 5 inch gauge too, so comparatively rigid. Still less than perfect, but needs far less maintenance and adjustment. Then again, my line doesn't get used as frequently either.

@@emdB67 Neat! Looking to build my own 7 1/4" soonish. I'm planning to build a proper wooden flatcar sooner or later as well.

Did you get derailed by a chicken>

Nah, I just cut the video based on the shots I had and I didn’t have B roll to make it look less out of place
