I think that one of those " if you loved this book, than you'll like this too" videos would be interesting from you, but instead it could be like, " if you enjoyed this very famous classic than you'll enjoy this lesser known one that has a similar feel and/or is from the same period of literature" Just a thought! Keep doing what you're doing!

Thank you very much for your recommendation of Eva Ibbotson. I had previously passed her books up, as their current covers give the impression that they were written for children. I had not realized that she had written books for adults that have recently been re-released for a YA readership. I am currently reading 'A Morning Gift' and am enjoying it immensely. I love this sort of old fashioned book set during the World War II era, and would recommend to you Rosamunde Pilcher's 'Coming Home' if you're looking to read something else in a similar vein. ('The Shell Seekers' is excellent too.)

You're pronouncing Sabato perfectly. I'm argentinean and that's the right pronunciation.

Thank you for your recommendation of The Tunnel. It seems to be the perfect book for me so I just added it to my TBR. Plus it appears there are a lot of Argentinian people in the comments recommending it as well ! I always love hearing about books from other countries. I'm French so for the most part of my life I only knew about french literature and english books that were translated into french. Being able to start reading in English has already opened an entirely new world of books for me but I am aware that there is still so much I don't know about from other cultures... Aaaah, so many books, so little time !

Hi Lucy, I'm glad you liked Sabato, I'm from Buenos Aires, you should check out "Hopscotch" by Julio Cortázar, "Fictions" by Jorge Luis Borges and "Mad Toy" by Roberto Arlt and "The Invention of Morel" by Adolfo Bioy Casares, those are all male, I'm gonna send you some female authors as well ;) I'm back, female argentinean authors, "The Endless Tower" by Silvina Ocampo, "Diana's Tree" by Alejandra Pizarnik, any shortstories you can find by Liliana Heker and any book of poems by Alfonsina Storni ;)

Keep going with the Anne of Green Gables series. There are a couple of the books that aren't as good, but the third book is my favorite in the entire series. And the entire series is my favorite book series of all time. I'm currently rereading the series, and I'm about to be on Anne of Avonlea.

I love watching your wrap ups, you read different books compared to the other booktubers I watch and I always want to read so many that you reccomend. I really want to read Eva Ibbotson now! They have one of them in my local library so I'm going to have to check that out. I've also wanted to read Howards End for a while and after your review I'm definitely going to have to get it soon. I read I Capture the Castle around this time last year and I loved it so much, I agree with everything you said about it; I loved Cassandras voice so much in it, she felt so individual.

oh also i don't know if you've already seen it but i HIGHLY recommend the netflix series Anne With An E, it just takes the best out of anne of green gables and adds so many more amazing elements, it's almost like if aogg was written with our 21st century more inclusive mindset

I absolutely loved the BBC adaptation of Howard's End. I've been on the lookout for a copy in charity shops ever since, but it's never there, meaning I think that everyone loves their copies! I really enjoyed I capture the castle also, I read it a few years ago. Mary Oliver is one of the poets that really reaches me, I find her work wonderful and I read very little poetry (sadly). Really enjoyable wrap up.

Ok, I really need to get "The Morning Gift". Thank you for your wonderful videos. If you liked this one, read "Anna and the Swallowman" by Gavriel Savit. It is almost the same. Similar tropes, 2nd WW situation, a young girl depending on a man and getting a tiny bit romance-y.

I didn’t finish Anne of Avonlea because I didn’t enjoy it either although I LOVED the first novel. I would definitely suggest reading Anne of the Island though. It was MUCH better and had a more interesting plot line.

It's so funny, isn't it, how the first book can be so good and yet the second can be so impossible to love? Glad Anne of the Island was an improvement though!

I agree with you on LM Montgomery's treatment of Davy, Dora, and Paul. I've never liked those aspects of Anne of Avonlea. That being said, I'm a huge Anne fan like you, and actually have started a new series on my channel called All Things Anne! I also have a video on LM Montgomery herself if you're interested.

No, I haven't! I'm a little bit worried that I'll find her books too scary because I'm such a scaredy-cat! Where would you recommend I start?
@cori78605 жыл бұрын
@@lucythereader I think her last book "we have always lived in the castle" is a great place to start! Nothing paranormal or graphic takes place, it's dark but not at all scary. The characters and the way they interact are extremely unique and its a short novel that had me still thinking about both the contents of the book and the way it was written for some time after I finished. Highly recommend it! :)

In Anne of Avonlea Dora really is underappreciated. I read the Anne books up to Anne of Ingleside for the first time last year and I liked each book a little bit bit less than the last (I did like them all though).
@meghanthestorygirl45815 жыл бұрын
I totally see where you're coming from. Keep reading though - the last one is my favourite and is about her daughter, Rilla, during World War 1. I have some videos talking more about that on my channel if you're interested :)
