Aprilia Mana 850 Oil Change

Great job on the DIY oil change on the Mana 850. Did anyone notice that the oil level in the window drops right down when the bike is on center stand and idling? I've had the 2010 GT ABS for 6 yrs and it's been very reliable, no issues to date.

Thanks for the helpful upload. One thing I noticed is that you are using a motorcycle specific 10W-40 oil. There is no need to use motorcycle specific oil on this bike since it only lubricates the engine and you don't have a transmission and clutch to worry about. The only partially valid argument for using "motorcycle oil" is that it's formulated to avoid clutch slip (some friction additives are not used) but besides that some will say it's mostly a marketing gimmick in the first place. Aprilia recommends a good quality 5W-40 oil. There are lots of great, fully synthetic 5W-40 (or better yet 0W-40) "car" oils available for less money which are most likely better suited for the job so I'd recommend getting one of those the next time.

I am trying to use a 9mm hex bit but it is too large. 8mm is too small. Can you tell me what hex size you used for the oil plug? I think mine might be stripped

Use wix 57035 instead,it's what you are supposed to use,they now have the black ones available,used to be white!

+Bobby McCray The belt change takes several hrs. & can only be performed by trained tech. as it requires computer hookup to reprogram, but overall - maintenance $ is avg.
