Ciao, Albe. I hope this message finds you well. Thank you for all of your great videos, I've seen almost all of them. I am sorry to revive an old video/comments. I followed your video when installing my K&N in my Tuono and ran into a problem. It appears the two screws used on the sides to reinstall the filter are too long to use with the K&N filter. It appears Aprilia accounted for the thickness of the lower frame, but K&N might have missed that the screws bottom out with a ~1/2" length of screw protruding. This can be verified by installing the screws by themselves without the filter. You will see the screws do not go in all the way and protrude from the base. This gap is larger than the thickness of the material in the K&N filter. The result is that the filter can pull-up by a couple millimeters even though the screws are fully seated. When the bike begins pulling air, a gap between the airbox and the filter can occur, this is obviously not desired and could lead to dirty air flowing into the engine. I suppose shorter screws can be used or adding washers. I plan to write K&N to ask them about this, but I wanted to let you know as this could let unfiltered air into the motor. If you would like to discuss this further, please let me know. I would not mind calling you.
@AlbesADVАй бұрын
Hi, yes , and as you say a washer or a shorter screw will do. I believe if you take a part the oem filter there should be a couple of extra screws that can be used. But it's been a while, so I might miss remember.

Brilliant Albe, you made it look much easier than i thought. Now i can change the air filter on my own. There is no one on KZbin that does so much "how to do it" on a Aprilia Touno RR like you do. The part when the GoPro comes with the Touno under the seat was hilarious, and the same with the wood piece, "a very expensive tool". That made my day, and of course how to do this. Blessings Albe. Keep it up.

Hello, first of all, greetings from Spain and congratulations for your magnificent videos. I have a question...I have put the A-racing map on my tuono and an exhaust without a catalyst and without a valve. Do you consider it mandatory to install a higher flow air filter? Can I still use the OEM filter? Thanks again.
@AlbesADV9 ай бұрын
Hello, You can, the difference is minimal but you might feel the bike bogging down a bit at high power, when the engine really needs all the air it can get.

Hi Albe's! Just wondering how many Centimetres long is your piece of wood? And how do you find K & N for filtering the dust? Because many people's said it will decrease the engine longevity? Compared with the stock filter. Great Video and Thank You!
@AlbesADV4 жыл бұрын
Hi RW, the piece of wood is around 25 cm long. I never had any problems with K&N filters, I used them on cars and motorcycles for a long time, as a matter of fact I have one installed on my mustang and has been there for the past 100000 miles about 160000 kilometers and the car doesn’t burn a drop of oil I believe If you take good care of the filter and oil it properly, you will not have any longevity problem.
@user-tx5dy1fz4g4 жыл бұрын
@@AlbesADV what about the dust that gets into the engine Albe's? Cuz the K&N filter isn't as fine as stock paper right?
@AlbesADV4 жыл бұрын
Correct, but the stock paper is dry, while the K&N is oiled and the oil traps the dust. Either way, you need an ungodly amount of dust to create enough friction to wear out the piston rings ahead of time

I have searched and searched but I cannot find the proper K&N PN for a 2021 Aprilia Tuono V4. Do you know if this very filter (AL-1010) will work on a 2021 model?

Did you che the official k&n website? I know that website is hard to search with their sub-sub-sub menus. Otherwise try AF1RACING.COM they have EVERYTHING APRILIA . BTW it might be (AL-4506) but double check 😀👍

Hi Abe. I have race ecu and gpr exhaust on my 2018 Tuono V4 1100. Do I need K&N or other but sport filter? If I keep oem filter is ok? Pls advice. Thank you.

The bike would probably run better with an high flow airfilter, but it's not going to break
@user-tx5dy1fz4g4 жыл бұрын
Do you think the DNA filter better than K&N?
@AlbesADV4 жыл бұрын
I believe an high flow filter is an high flow filter independently of the brand. I believe, if one is better than the other, is not by much and would make a difference only on a MotoGP bike that always runs at maximum capacity and has a million sensors that measure everything. Brands do a lot of marketing and make wild claims to up sell each other...

in possession of slip on and race control unit, does consumption increase by mounting the filter?
@PM-jo2ym2 жыл бұрын
do you still recommend changing the filter in the presence of slip on and race control unit? if yes why?
@AlbesADV2 жыл бұрын
Consumption increases when you install the race ECU tge filter let's the fuel burn properly
@AlbesADV2 жыл бұрын
I would, and I did, because the catalytic converter and the flapper valve are both on the OEM silencer, so even just a slip on will allow the exhaust to come out much faster and an high flow filter will allow to flow more air in and keep the balance. Now, it is not strictly necessary, the bike is not going to break or anything, but it will run better with an high flow filter
