I’m a newbie to the track, was looking at a 2012 Tuono for fun track days? Sick deals on leftover stock (2018’s) at the moment

Tuono in my opinion is the ideal bike to have. Super easy to ride on both the track and street...handles like a dirt bike. Really any of the hyper nakeds should be good!

@@jetstream01 both my buddies have switched to the 2019 Factory bikes and left me with my FZ09 , so I'm now eyeing a 2016 RR down near Salem for $8,700 ' with only 5k on the clock . I've not seen any other Aprilla Tuono's around here so I may have to seriously consider it ( plus Covid has spiked prices on ALL sportbikes !!!

what happened at 11:53 ??
@XeCuteAbstractSounds3 жыл бұрын
oh crap, 13:17 was even worse! good save!
@jetstream013 жыл бұрын
Hah good detection skills...at 11:53 I actually lost the front into that turn. Luckily I didn't go all the way down. Then yep later (twice) I lost the rear. I faced major problems on the Q4s when I actually tried to up my pace a bit.

Sold it a while back and started racing in the 600 class. Then sold that one and will now be racing an SV650.

How's the transition from twin to v4, from the pig to the tuono? I'm thinking of moving to a '19 Tuono Factory.
@tomman24 жыл бұрын
Just curious... What pressures are you running? I have a new set of Q4's on track day wheels (which I'll be running for the first time) and while I'll definitely ask the local guys for their recommendation, it would help to know what pressures you were running so I can use that as another data point. Thanks and be safe! Your bike sounds awesome!

I don't remember offhand but it was whatever Dunlop recommended. I think it was 32 hot front and 28 hot rear.

Oh my God! That exhaust sound! What pipe is that? One day man...one day I will own this bike.
@jetstream014 жыл бұрын
I got lucky and bought the bike with an SC Project Exhaust on it. And with this bike, the cat is actually in the stock muffler, so when you install a slip-on you're also deleting the cat! Since then I've also removed the exhaust flapper so it sounds even meaner (the servo motor went out on it). I plan on making a high quality sound video on this bike soon.

jetstream01 looking forward to that exhaust video.

@jetstream- another great video! I’ve been lurking in the background since your RC51 track days and now have a left over 2019 TV4 Factory. What map/oft/pcv are you running with sc exhaust? And do you have any other mods you’ve done to the intake/exhaust/timing, etc?
@jetstream014 жыл бұрын
@@loskie9389 thanks for sticking around all these years! I'll be uploading lots more videos next year because I'm actually going to race a full season on my SV650, so hopefully you'll enjoy that! As far as the Tuono, I actually haven't modified anything aside from removing the exhaust flapper and installing a servo eliminator because the system actually stopped working. I am supposed to be running the race ECU but I found someone locally that can dyno and flash the bike for me so I'm gonna go that route instead. Right now I'm having the valve clearances done though because it is overdue. I have only had the bike for a relatively short while so I haven't done a ton to it yet. What about your factory? I'm jealous your year has the auto blipper!!! It wasn't there on the 16 models.
@loskie93894 жыл бұрын
jetstream01 Thanks for the quick response and for the continued videos so i can live vicariously through you! I’ve also been looking at picking up an SV 650 or maybe even a ninja 400 for Dedicated track duty so I don’t inadvertently cartwheel my brand new bike down the track while exploring my limits. The blipper and quick shifter are a thing of wonder and are like butter. I almost responded and said that you’re not missing anything by not having the blipper but my Super Duke GT only has a quick shifter and no down and I’d be lying if i said that the auto blip isn’t a wonderful comfort and convenient feature to have.

The Q4s definitely have their limitations but its the best street tire I've run on track so far. I noticed that both times where the tire stepped out, you were accelerating before the apex which usually means you were adding lean angle and throttle at the same time. I know you didn't ask for advice but I think its worth reviewing.
@jetstream014 жыл бұрын
Since this video I actually did another track day on them. This time I had the suspension setup at the track and it helped a little. I also adjusted my tire pressures a bit. I wasn't really accelerating, just getting back to having the throttle at a neutral position when they slipped. It was a tiny amount of power being put down...it definitely shouldn't have slipped. But in any case after these adjustments it's a bit better. I'll need to run slicks if I want to go any faster.
