Namaste, thank you for sharing. Steve at Aptera Owners Club, did a video this morning regarding the carbon fiber/and other fiberglass pieces. I will only breathe easy when the $60 million is raised. But this is yet another milestone, and excited to see this!!!

Frame parts. Step by step, at least they are letting us know how it is going. So these are machined parts not the final cast parts. they will be checking them before making the castings for the production parts. All of that will take time.

Very exciting news! I know they said they would build it this month. I am a bit bummed that Elaphe won't be supplying the drivetrain, mostly bummed that the new drivetrain will require lubricant changes. But do you know if the new drivetrain is more efficient or lighter than having in-hub motors? Anyway, thank you for the video Raj!

I was a hub motor fan too but now see all the advantages of the Vitesco. So many less power and cooling lines and connections and coolant and maniford and hardware in general. Reduction gearing won't require many lube changes, rarely if any. Booted cv's are pretty much maint free. I read at one point the hub motors had a 20 or 30k mile lube interval, think the source of that was Elaphe but I haven't gone back to reverify that. The testing ahead will verify, but the emr3 was said to be lighter and more powerful than the 3 hub motors with all their associated hardware. Nice not to be hearing the unsprung weight complaints too. To me the emr3 is a good move, much less to go wrong. Still hope they try for a hub motor in back and a heatpump someday though.

@@ronfarnsworth7074it's an unknown what the performance will be. 3.5-4 s 0-60 was impressive and is no longer as sporty (don't know exact specs) . Lack of awd also has a substancial impact on winter driving. The original design and price offered a variety of use cases and the new spec is far more niche appeal since cost savings with efficiency and solar are nowhere near as substancial outside of California.

@@ronfarnsworth7074 Thanks for the info! I didn't even think of all the lines going to the hub motors.

@@ccibinel The hub motors certainly had addictive performance going for them. But for me it was at a cost especially in central New England. That said if Aptera adds a rear hub motor someday for performance I'll want one. I doubt it will be an add on option though. With hub motors, all the wiring and plumbing and connections and seals and associated mounting hardware that had to be routed through live suspension and the resulting abrasion to insulation and cooling lines as they flexed against mounting hardware to follow the moving control arm, and I'd guess there's going to be dirt around that area to make it worse, had me concerned. And all the connections and seals, 10 at least for each motor? Times 3 motors? Connections have the highest failure rate of anything and 1 bad electrical or coolant connector can be a showstopper not to mention make a huge mess. It's about impossible to keep the corrosive and abrasive road chems and dirt out of all that wiring and plumbing and hardware and out of connections. Then there's the additional manifold that 6 cooling lines would connect into, and all those lines full of coolant would likely need a bigger heavier pump along with a larger overflow reservoir. Then there would be 3 stand alone inverters with all that wiring and maybe a terminal block and connections to 3 motors. That's a lot of hardware and points of failure all gone along with the unsprung weight issue. As you said, remains to be seen how much power can be put to the road. I think Aptera will still be quick. The fwd drivetrain is said to be lighter and similar total power, ought to handle rough roads and bumpy corners better and ride better. Need another moose test. I plan on studded snow tires for winter and think traction will be plenty good. I grew up with way worse and winters aren't as snowy here anymore. Ground clearance is usually why I get stuck with my old awd bmw but I get around ok except in bad storms when the plows can't keep up and just seeing is a challenge. Wheel pants in winter and a rear center wheel on a snowy rutted road need to be tested. Other awd 2 track vehicles are likely to be a better choice for the worst storms. Ccibinel, I think we've replied to each other before and we know about the same stuff, appreciate your reply and pov, be well!

@@ccibinel how can you say this? The efficiency of solar cells won't differ except for variances in th amount of sunlight they receive. If you're saying that the new drive train will consume more of that solar-gain power than three hub motors, then you are merely guessing--you don't know that. And in my neighborhood there are several AWD pickup trucks. I put my FWD Prius up against them in snowy weather we get here in NY and I can out maneuver them almost all the time. in fact one such neighbor actually asked me to do him a favor and go to the store for baby formula and diapers because his AWD pickup couldn't get up the hill to go to the store....he kept skidding into the roadside drainage channels (concrete).

I've been asking about the frame for over a year. Seems that people were more interested in the bink and not the other item that is needed to make the bink actually work. So, now they have the completed frame, the Pi will be drivable in a week.

Aptera battery pack is a copy of lucid motors design ( patented under their old name Atieva), did you know that?
