Aqua Lung i470 TC Bluetooth Dive Computer Review

Dive in with us as we take a look at and review the new Aqua Lung Bluetooth Dive Computer. The i470TC replaces the i450T with added Bluetooth connectivity.
Update: I did find a way to see GTR (Gas to Return) by pressing the advance button while on the dive. Still not ideal and I would love to see an update that allows the user to configure which info is displayed on the main display but at least it is there.

Thanks for the feedback Paul. I wish I could have found some reviews on it before I purchased myself. I'll be honest, I was hoping this was going to be a much more positive experience and review. And there certainly are some good things about this computer. But I personally feel that there are better options for the price. One thing to note, if it has any value to you, I am currently working with the Diving Log 6.0 team and they will have BT support for the i470TC soon.

I do want the bluetooth (usually dive during vacation and I have no computer to link my dive computer to) but it wouldn't be the highest on my list of things. thanks for the review! I was considering this but I'll pass for now.

The i450 is a great alternative if you still want the integrated air.

I did find it. But it requires me to press a button which defeats the purpose of having integrated air in the first place as I use that so I don't have to take a hand off the camera.

Thanks for a thorough review. Do you know if the app works with Android? I only have PC & Android tablet & phone...no Apple. My Oceanic VT3 's 'M' button stopped working & was told this works with that transmitter. In your opinion would you still recomend the discontinued 450 or the 470.... I think I can get either for about the same pricepoint. BTW don't you also dive with Darrel here in Kona??

Hi Scubadue, I'm not sure if there is an Android app but I'm sure a quick search would answer that for you. I personally would still go back to the i450 but you'll have to compare features and see which fits your needs better. And yes, I think I've done a couple dives with Darrel.

I bought it in Dec 2021 and have mixed feelings about it, like I can get to information I need eventually but it is not smooth. There have been several occasions when the computer went into error at the beginning of a dive, so I started wearing a dive centre provided computer and asked myself why do I even put this expensive thing on my wrist? Sometimes buttons do not react as they should, and it is not really reliable as wristwatch either as it builds 2-3 minutes of delay per month. Once (worn as a wrist watch) it started beeping while I was on a intercontinental flight, I tried everything to make it stop but it would continue beeping for hours after landing. On that occasion it recorded 999 dives, wow. All in all, I made the investment so I occasionally use it but would definitely not make the same purchase again.

My eyesight underwater isn't the greatest. Can you tell me how readable the display is versus other dive watches you've tried? Thanks.

It's pretty typical and comparable to most normal sized dive watches.

I do care for both bluetooth and AI and thought this model was ideal Has it gotten any new support since your video? Most importantly can you sync the Air mix info or not yet?

I just checked dive logs and yes, air mix does sync. :-) Nothing new that I have discovered since this video.

Maybe it's just me. But, I kinda think 'Dive Time Remaining' to be a universal standard function for a dive computer.

@@kukusz It's not. I have to change screens to access it. Perhaps you are thinking of another model? I've done almost 100 dives on this computer now and can assure you, it only pops up once you're at 5 minutes remaining.

Hi i just purchased it under the impression that it has a built in compass. After all there is that bezel there. However i cannot find it anywhere in the instruction manual or in the watch setting itself. Do you know if it does have compass or what the bezel is even there for? :(

I don't have it handy with me but I just read through the manual and it appears that it does not. That seems really odd as the i450 did have compass. It seems from what I can tell, they replaced the compass mode with the "Alt 1" dive mode which is where I finally found GTR.

Unfortunately it does not have a compass function. I am considering this computer but will not be ready to buy a new computer until February 2021, maybe something better will come out by then.
