You know as a college history teacher and history enthusiast, I absolutely can’t stop watching your videos. I grew up in FL with a ton of Spanish history but I’d love to do some digs for civil war era stuff! Great stuff my friend.

I'm going to chime in and add one to the list. I invited Beau with me to one of my permissions and he dug a colonial Vermont coin. It looked very nice as well. Unfortunately he wasn't filming that day but it was a beautiful coin to see. Hope I get to hunt with you again my friend.

My best coin finds are 3 silver dimes, 2 war nickels, 2 Indian cents, 2 V nickels, and around 15 wheat cents.

I’ve been at it around a month and I’ve managed one Mercury dime, five Wheaties, lots of pre ‘82 Cents, one gold ring, one gold locket box (plated I think), five hundred trillion nails, ten ant bites, one bee sting and every aluminum pull ring on Earth. Happy hunting dude, I’d like to catch up to your silver count.

They were doing excavations near the river in Philly putting in I-95 years ago. I found 2 8reales and a bunch of smaller Spanish coinage. I took all the smaller silver and made it into a necklace for my wife. It turned out to be a real eye popper on her trip to Spain. Then the road crew dug up some cannons and that's when they fenced it all off and hired security. (oldest readable date was 1745 others were older by design type)

Dang. I've found silver spills of about $1.50 face value (including a standing liberty quarter), and one of about $2.00 face value (including a walking liberty half). But that is a massive haul there. Congratulations on both your luck and the hard work you put into getting those.

Luck runs the opposite direction in Australia, like toilets. You need one of the Northern Hemisphere _unlucky_ shirts, then you'll find piles of silver coins.

Look at old maps for old ferries and river crossings, I found a bunch of turned over pickleling jars with coins in them, I guess that's how they would pay is toss coins in the jar and sometimes the jars would fall out of the ferry if horses bucked or whatever else

I'm pretty sure he keeps everything he finds, unless he can contact the owner then he gives it back to them, like with phones, cameras, jewelry with inscriptions etc. Who knows though when you find 126 half dollars at once I could see getting a payday out of some of 'em.

Aquachigger I need some advice. Where I'm from there isnt many people that metal detect. I have some property that was given permission to detect that was a civil war trail. I've been told the property has never been detected. It's a really really long walk to follow it. I feel that it's a trail not really something happened along the trail like a battlefield. Do you think it's worth walking these miles of civil war trail or is it a possible waste of my time.

I USE TOO METAL DETECT WHEN I WAS A TEEN, BUT LOST INTEREST, BECAUSE EVERY TIME I WOULD GO TOO THE PARK THE DNR WOULD TELL ME TO STOP DOING THAT EVEN BY THE CREEK.
