AquaIllumination AI Prime 16 HD Reef LED Light Settings Schedule Spectrum Saltwater Coral Aquarium

See my updated video that extends ramp times to 1 hour as popular requests.

This video is about the spectrums, settings, and schedule I chose for my Aquaillumination AI Prime 16hd LED light.
I have always been a bulb guy so I used that as my guide.
Excluding ramps, I have 3 main settings to my tank.
Lights on at 10am
Lights off at 10pm
Morning blue. Lights on at 10am and ramp to these settings until 11am. It is then held at these settings until 1230pm. This spectrum is a combination of the ATI T5 Blue Plus bulb and the Reef Brite T5 Actinic Bulb
Spectrum lights used
UV 60%
Violet 72%
Royal Blue 114%
Blue 108%
Day light. Ramp to daylight starts at 1230pm ends at 130pm and held at these daylight settings until 630p when it start to ramp to evening blue settings from 630pm until 730pm. Copied Reef Brite T5 HO Full Spectrum and the Reef Brite T5 50/50
Spectrum lights used
UV 42%
Violet 62%
Royal Blue 85%
Blue 78%
Green 15%
Red 10%
Cool White 60%
Evening blue. These settings are a duplicate of the morning blue. Ramp to these from daylight starts at 630pm and completed at 730pm. Held until 9pm and then ramp to off from 9pm to 10pm.

Hello Would this be a good lighting settings/schedule for my tank, which is 28inches x 18 inches x 18 inches ? Have got one ai prime 16 hd, placed 11 inches off the water. Having bubble tip anemones, zoa and mushrooms. Thank you?

Hey is the white spectrum of 60% necessary, in terms of coral growth ? Most of the fellow folks suggest very low range like 5%-30%. Also that duration of white looks a bit whitish in my 20 gal red sea nano, scares me of diatoms or other algae growth.

You can absolutely reduce the white if you don’t like it. I suggest you increase the blue, Royal blue, Violet, and UV to compensate for a reduced white. You can have a happy healthy reef tank with very low white. The white does increase coral growth but you can still get great growth with low white. The best light advice I can give is to adjust it to what you enjoy.

If you like the look of the blue period. You can eliminate the mid day change in blue, Royal blue, Violet, and UV. Just have those run standard across the board, then add in 10-15% white mid day to give a little extra par pop.

This is my first led I have a fluval Evo 13.5. With stock light.... But just bought an AI prime 16 HD sol...... ??? Now is the blue better than the white or just some white with lots of blue.....???? What's best for coral???

Hello. Providing you give them the right spectrum of blue. Blue will make them look better, color up better, and grow better. Any white I have ever ran, even on my bulb tank with metal halides, the white portion of the light spectrum has always been for just about 5 hours and I always ran blue with it. The biggest draw back to all the blue time is how the fish look. You don’t get to see all the pretty fish colors if all you do is pump blue in the tank.

Hello. It depends on what you want to put in the tank. For an LPS and softy I would cut the intensity in half.

Are you using a refugium or algae scrubber on this tank? This is crucial information based on the light schedule you’re using

Canister filter. No scrubber. I keep my setup pretty basic. Lights. Canister filter. Skimmer. Heater. I have a video that shows the entire setup if you are interested as well as how I control algae and my cleanup crew.

Hello. It should work great. My tank is ~61cm deep (24 inches) and I grow Monti cap at the bottom. Should be plenty enough power. I would recommend watching the updated video I did. I changed the ramp times to 1 hour and put some growth updates for the coral.
