This Aquaman confessional scene is an example of Joss Whedon’s brilliance in staging character interactions or how characters play off each other. Look at Serenity, Firefly, Buffy and yes, the Avengers. I love the idea that someone can just trigger the lasso's effects just by rubbing up against it and not know that they're just pouring their heart and soul out until it's too late or they start thinking "hang on, what's wrong with me? I'm not usually this forthcoming". (even more so because in some iterations of Wonder Woman the lasso doesn't even need to glow for its effects to work on someone).
