The air bubble thing that Mera made in Jl is explained in aquaman. When Mera and Arthur meet vulko, they went into secret place (some wrecked ship) where covered by bubble too and said that it prevent from other atlantean, cause only highborn/ royal can breath both at surface and underwater.

I think I spotted one possible, multifaceted easter egg that wasn't mentioned... When facing the super sea monster in its cave; Karanthen asks: "Who are you?" and Arthur answers: "I am nobody." Isn't this a reference to Odysseus (aka Ulysses), who answered similarly to the monstrous Cyclops when trapped in its cave? Also, translated to latin, "nobody" is "nemo". The name chosen by Captain Nemo, the antihero of Jules Verne's classic 20000 leagues under the sea.

Did anyone else feel that there were quite a lot of “jump scares” in the form of unexpected explosions coming in out of nowhere? A few people in the cinema actually flinched in their seats whenever an explosion would randomly happen during a talking scene. Loved the movie!

*This movie was another step in the success of the DC universe! The imagery for this first take of this type of movie is visually stunning! They gave Arthur more character than that of his wild nature while still keeping him true to his established character. Interesting mixed directing styles by James Wan, I can definately see how past horror film work elements made its way into the movie! Only wished there were more Black Manta scenes but other than that, 9/10 for this solid film!*

It's a great time to be alive as a comic book fan period. The MCU is quite possibly the greatest franchise in movie history and as a fan of both DC and Marvel comics reading both growing up I could've never dreamed of the MCU existing. So the MCU is unreal to me as a comic fan. However as great as the MCU has been and continues to be with all its success I still would've never thought Aquaman would ever be adapted into a live action movie and a damn good one at that. That's what I was saying. As a comic book fan its a great time to be alive with these movies without even getting into the TV shows as well. I'm well aware Aquaman is a DC movie or DCEU movie if the DCEU is still considered a thing since the failure of justice league and the issues with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavil now remored to no longer be Batman or Superman. Hopfully they will eventually bring the Flash to the big screen and reset most of the DCEU with a flashpoint movie. DC definitely needs to get a flash movie in development sooner rather than later. I believe the flash if written well could bring in a massive amount of money at the box office.

so....much ....fun!!!! and Jason Momoa...just...Jason Momoa I was concerned it would be JUST a lot of stuff blowing up, but noooooooooooooo there's actual story and character and awesome design and did I mention excellent use of three dimensional space? Little things like entering a throne room and the guards aren't just lined up horizontally but VERTICALLY too. And the battle that takes place not only on a flat surface but in three dimensions... as you'd expect underwater. You missed the neat little Easter egg of father and son greeting each other with the Maori forehead touch and breathe greeting: Morrison is Maori and Momoa is Hawaiian on his dad's side. and who better to be Aquaman than a descendant of the people who first explored and understood the Pacific...

I just came out of the theater and it was amazing! This video has certainly made me appreciate the film a lot more too. I do think you missed a couple things though. Or maybe you noticed them but didn't think to give them a nod here. Specifically, I think you could have mentioned how the story of The Dunwich Horror was specifically connected to the movie (an invisible beastly brother to a strange half-blooded fellow perhaps rings similar to Orm's and Arthur's relationship?), but what I especially feel was missing was a mention of the Hippocampi, those fish-horse creatures the people from Xebel rode on, which come from Greek mythology. I did enjoy the video though, and you pointed out a lot of things I never would have noticed in a million years. Keep it up!

Yeah, I thought the same. I think it could have done better numbers in the box office here in the USA. Just look at the numbers in China. It is impressive. I always thought Marvel fanboys and the Disney critics had a lot to do with the small numbers.
