When I was younger I was always mad at Raymond for never acknowledging Claire and Hailey. Then when I was older and rewatched it and realized how big the age difference was, I realized it was probably for the best 😂 and I realized that Cecilia needed even more of a grip. I mean bullying is bad enough, but bullying 7th graders when you are almost 18? Come on!

I actually got curious and looked up the ages. Emma and JoJo were both about 14, Sara was 17 and the girl who played Cecilia was 20 and the guy who played Raymond was 19...yeah the age differences weren’t good😂

I'm way too old to be watching it, but Aquamarine is a guilty pleasure and that was one of the major things I noticed! as a kid at the time it came out, you're likely putting yourself in the shoes of Claire/Hailey and want their fantasies with their crush to be realized, but as an adult, you realize he's thankfully not a complete creep by not seeing them that way lol. he gave them a little kiss on the cheek which was pretty innocent but still fulfilled their summer 'checklist.' also, a part of the friendship emphasis is that despite them being infatuated with Ray and not wanting more "competition" at the start, they genuinely want them together later on and are just happy for Aqua and still see them both in a good light which is very sweet, especially if you consider the time it came out and how girls were often pitted against each other back then (that we kind of see with Cecilia, as awful as she was lol).

Omg they filmed aquamarine here in australia so i always LOVED it cause so few movies were ever filmed here let alone acknowledged to be in australia in the film like sabrina down under and the rescuers down under even though it was set in florida in the movie i loved seeing the shops like diva jewellery and the magazines like dolly and girlfriend in the movie!!!
