This person is used to store bought tomatos. There is no difference in a tomato grown in soil vs aquaponics. It's all the same macro/micro nutrients. The only difference may be, he doesn't like the strain of tomato. He could also use more room in his pots for his 🍅 roots to grow. I know they're cherries but he has a very low yield. Maybe also look into mineralization tanks.

You have to pick them when they are green and just starting to turn red. They will ripen on there own slowly after that.

@@borttorbbq2556 but it can improve taste quality sometimes, most of my tomatoes began going bad before they turned red which may be the case here. Therefore, if he picks it now they can ripen and turn red at the same time

That depends on the tomato variety maybe?. I grew midnight sun this year / sungold cherry tomatoes and they were amazing when i let them ripen on the plant. The tomatoes i picked to ripen indoors just tasted like the bland ones from the grocery store.
@borttorbbq2556
@borttorbbq2556 2 жыл бұрын
@@ngochuynh6998 most of the tomatos that I've dealt with have all been the same way as what you dealt with there. if they ripen on the plant they have so much more flavor. If you want to keep them for a long time then yeah you want to pick them when they're still green but it would be better to wait and Can them at that point. There are probably some varieties of tomato which do work better for letting ripen off the plants but.

I think the poop is less the issue and maybe the lack of good sunlight. Getting as much light as they fully need tells the tomato to make stronger skin.

What do expect something to taste like when you grow it from poop🤭I kid, most farms lay down some sort of fertilizer aka (poop) before they start planting season, so this concept is completely logical however you may need to check what vitamins and nutrients work best to grow what ever type of tomatoes you have there and then adjust your levels accordingly....Just a thought!😊anyways I hope you have a fantastic day and your next mater is a delicious one!☺💖

I was not surprised when you said it was pretty mushy. My one attempt at hydroponic tomatoes went the exact same way. I think the plants take up too much water if they have constant access to water. I think it would be better to use drip irrigation and keep them in conditions more like they’d find outside. However, if you have good light, hydroponics is a great way to start seeds. I don’t know if you’d get the same results just using water from your fish tank, but having ready access to water with nutrients really jump starts them. I also think them not being in soil makes it easier, but I pot them in cups of soil once they have a few leaves. They seem to germinate faster, too, but you have more trouble with stuck seed coats without soil.

This has been nearly all of my experience with growing anything ever, but I keep trying! 😅😅 Years ago I grew a watermelon that that ended up being the size of a softball and had less than a teaspoon of the red fleshy part to eat. 😄😄 I wonder if the issue could lie in the fish food as well? But I literally know nothing so take that with a 1/2 grain of salt. 😅

I think it has more to do with being overwatered. My hydroponic tomatoes were mushy and flavorless, too. I doubt it was related to nutrient deficiencies, and it didn’t sit in the plant long enough to get overripe. It just tasted too watery. Although I don’t know that you’ll get as good flavor with grow lights as you would from the sun. There’s nothing like a cherry tomato fresh off the plant warmed by the sun.
