Been doing 3 different 'one hour challenges' each day for the last month. Unexpected spawning has definitely been worth it though! Aquarium care is self-care, and a reminder to slow down and be fully present.

As for the fish losses: After every move that includes a change in water sources, I have lost up to 10% of my established stock. I have had the fewest losses in this particular spawning, and I attribute the success to your recommendation to get snails in all tanks and to encourage algae growth to help keep the water clean. I noticed that you only lost fish in the tubs with zero algae. Maybe a little bit of new tank syndrome due to the move?

I feel a bit sad and lost. But. Here I can tag along and hang out in your fishroom. I learn things, I feel welcome, the tone and rythm is (are?) both calming and uplifting, wholesome and curious. You all show respect for the animals, and for every single 11 year old guppy owner as well as nerms. You show open minds and strive for quality. Bravo! Thank you for making the long format. Lots of great info and nice seeing the progress. I do have two ideas for you as far as a fun meetup. Have some sort of a contest or something were people can get the opportunity to help you for an afternoon in the fish room. I know there is a lot to consider with something like that, but speaking for my self spending a few hours helping you build and outfit the room while picking your brain would be an amazing experience. Second, many aquariums around the country are available for special events. It would be a blast to spend some time with you and other enthusiast looking at tanks way outside of the general hobby and talking to the staff on the similarities and differences in scale.

Really enjoy all the videos. I always learn something. Got fish to de-stress, well ok start-up was a little stressful. I started in 2020 getting start-up basics was next to impossible. Experimented with a handmade CO2 system great for live plants, but if you don't have enough time the algae will multiply faster than your fish can consume it. With a little help from a fish whisperer and the knowledgeable folks at Laconia Pet Center, I'm able to come home from a stressful day at work and really enjoy and relax watching my guppies, pleckos, and shrimp. In an effort to stay simple, my next step is to switch from the U2 & U3 to the aquarium co-op sponge filters.
