Looking great with the beard cory. I enjoy watching your videos. I just bought like a few loaches (zebra and kuhli I guess) today and they’re cute AF! They just bounced around then hid under the plants. The rasboras were checking them out. But they zipped around and hid away aprt from a few checking out the place. Realised that I made a good decision to not buy the teeny shrimps for my community tank.

I have two Dojo Loaches in my community tank, 78 degrees. Perhaps they're not schooling fish, but these two get along great. They'll swim and play together, and like to lay beside each other to rest and "nap". They get along great with the other fish, non-aggressive but curious. They'll try to use their tentacles to nuzzle other fish, and the other other fish are always like, 'No, go away." LOL. Because of their size, a smaller fish might nudge them to get out of their way (usually when the loaches are still and resting on something), and they always oblige with no fuss. Fun to watch them swim around. They're like fish vacuum cleaners. I've never seen pellets disappear so fast. I give the pellets a good spread throughout the aquarium to allow the other fish to get some.

I have 2 albino weather loaches. They adore each other. They get along well with my other fish and the cory often plays with and rests next to them. The other fish rather trip out a bit with their interactions. They often break up aggression by other fish by quickly darting by. It's so funny to watch. The betta is completely bemused by their antics. I have a pretty peaceful tank overall. The ones that get aggressive go after their own species. I had an agressive platy (Mickey Mouse) and he and a few friends now have a new tank to themselves. One of them in particular was fin nipping everyone in the tank. Looking forward to getting a ten gallon so I can put him in a bigger tank and use my smallest as a hospital tank.

I worked at a pet shop for a time many years ago, and when we would break down display tanks, there would be about a hundred kuhli loaches in the under-gravel filters. As for picking a single fish out of a huge school, I once spotted a Callichthys in a swarm of Hoplos. A couple of months later, different shop, I saw another Callichthys in a similar school. The first I bought was a female, she grew to be about five inches, and when I brought the three-quarter-inch male home and he hit the water, he immediately started working up a bubble nest, like he was saying "LET'S PARTY!".

Curious- at 2:07 What is the black gold fish doing?
I love my golden dojo loach! He is a lap dog fish, such a personality.

I have to add a caveat to the Dojo portion: It depends on temperament of the individual fish as to whether or not your plants will be messed with. Mine will loach the hell out of select rooting plants and leave the rest alone. It's like one day I will look in the tank and half of the greenery is floating. Leroy has been busy.

Hi Cory, love your videos! Always very informative, and you never fail to inspire me. Do you happen to know anything about the red tail botia loaches? Do they seem easy to care for?

I loooove my yoyo and angelicus group. They've done great for years in my community tank with boesmani and turquoise rainbows, Denison barbs, and a breeding pair of albino bristlenose.
