Aquascaping Part 2: Using Super Glue and Substrate

In this episode I show you one of the ways we use thin super glue and substrate to bond rocks together, creating a safe and sturdy aquascape for your aquarium. This will prevent any rocks from falling, damaging your corals and possibly killing any fish. Using this method your can create some amazing overhang, ledges and some amazing crevasses which make great hiding spaces for your fish.

If I want to do this for freshwater with black rocks (basalt) for a fountain, will using black sand work or is the chemical composition of aragonite important? I’d prefer to use black sand since it will blend in better, but if the science needs to be aragonite, I’ll use that! :)

I do prefer the putty method, but used it for corals not rocks as of yet, will be doing that in the next few weeks. gr8 vid.

Are you not worried about the chemicals from the glue in your tank?

Cyanoacrylate which is what super glue is, is safe to use in aquariums. We also use it to stick our fragmented corals to frag plugs. Check out this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4S5mXqtnJ1krK8 of sticking frags to frag plugs.
