I had an Aqueoun filter for 5 years, super quiet, never had a problem with it. The self priming was a win win for me. When I moved I sold the tank with all equipment and occupants, fish, snails, plants, etc. That filter is still working well and it's 2 years later. So, 7 years so far and still working well. Cannot beat that for the price. Thanks for doing the review on this brand of filters. 👍💞👍

I am using this exact filter for my 29 gallon community tank for a little over a year now. I have no complaints at all. I did as advised replace the cartridges with filter floss and ceramic bio media. I do understand the desire to have an adjustable feature for flow. For the price and my community tank though it is a great fit.

How exactly do you modify with filter floss and ceramic bio media?? I have the 10, and not exactly thrilled with the cartridges. Sometimes the cartridges are defective, and won't let the water pass through. Been seeing tiny particles in the water so I don't think the cartridges are doing a good job.

Great review! I have 4 QuietFlows running now and they’ve been solid for 4-5 years now. I replace the main filter with bulk floss like you mentioned (also in the blue tray) and I add a 3rd extra strip of floss in between the blue tray and main filter to quiet it even further.

I use the Whisper 10, which is basically the same thing but smaller. But I take out the cartridge and holder, put in a coarse sponge on one side, ceramic media on the other. And a coarse pre-filter intake sponge. I replaced that front sponge with a cut-to-size polypad. I keep the carbon cartridges in case I ever need to get rid of medications. I like the light because it tells me when that polypad has reached its limit and water is backing up. But I don't find it very quiet.

Not a fan of this filter, bought one to replace an AquaClear. However my QuietFlow 30 got noisier than the AC. You nailed it being narrower - hard to fit other media like the AC. Also, the thin plastic cracked on me (while being careful and servicing the impeller). Going to try a Tidal next time around...

I started Cosmo's tank with the Aqueon 10 quiet flow and filter from another tank and also added a sponge filter. Worked good, but as soon as the sponge was seeded enough I removed the HOB as it would be too much flow long term. He had fun in the waterfall though!

The penguin 200 is a great filter for less than$16 on Amazon. Nothing against the new marineland filters, but they are nearly 3x more expensive. The aqueon filter looks nice too🙂👍🏻 It’s so great to have so many options.

It seems like the h.o.b you showed here is a good one. I look forward to a possible review how it has worked for you over time. Sincerely, Marty Borst 😀

My Aquaclear dumped water all over my hardwood floors. I had the Quiet Flow still in the box from when I bought my 29 kit tank. I ended up pulling the filter out to replace the Aquaclear and I don't regret it.. It's been about a year and I have done monthly cleaning on it. It's quiet, it's efficient, it's actually not bad. I did replace the media with sponges and took the small sponge from the front and added a stiffer black sponge, that I cut a bit bigger than the tray. I now have super easy flow for my betta!

Honestly, I like the aqueon quiet flow 20 led pro over the aquaclears I bought. The led came with a dead battery but I didn't plan to use that anyway. Every time our power blinks or surges (or for no reason at all) the aquaclears don't come back on. It won't come back on till I take it apart and clean the impeller pouring water in it doesn't do anything. Maybe I got the woopsie. The aqueon never gave me that problem. It was a bit turbulent on my 20 tall but the neon tetras and habrosus cories managed just fine. When I get done playing musical tanks the aquaclear will be put away as back up till our power grid is more reliable. I used the aqueon for 2 years with no issues.

I have the Aqueon Quiet Flow LED PRO 10 and it's pretty quiet. I will say every so often it does some kind of buzzing noise when the lid isn't secure. I simply just adjust the lid and it quiets up. May have to put some kind of foam or something underneath so that stops happening. I also didn't install the LED. Didn't want to rely on it. Outside of those things I think it's a great simple product

I used to think these were 'good enough' until I found the Marina Slim Series, and I got rid of all the Aqueons. The Marinas tick all the boxes for me, truly soundless, all the great features, plus they look great on my rimless Nanos. I have 2 tanks in my livingroom and No hum, no trickle. So nice! Even got one for my Patio Pond! Cheap enough for me to replace all of my filters.

Hey Prime Time Aquatics! Since I use the large Tetra brand filter cartridges on my Aqueon 20, I noticed that the floss is just literally floss that has been sealed together somehow. I was wondering if you can take cheap filter floss and iron them into a little pocket like the pre-made ones as a hack? Would the melted cotton/nylon material become toxic to fish after ironing it?

Hi! You mentioned that one drawback of this filter is not a lot of room for media... So I was wondering, should extra media be added? I got a 55 and once I put in tank the blue knob for down tube was killing me, then the motor was noisy so I returned. The tidal needs a few tweaks to be far the best filters. One smaller intake holes, two lose the blue knobs, three quality check motors. Then they will be in all my tanks.
