How did I miss this video when it first came out? I am an Aquila fan, and this certainly doesn't disappoint. That forward cabin is fantastic, so versatile. If using it as a live aboard it really provides that space you never seem to find for "things". I tend to be a fan of an interior helm for those super hot days or if you lost track of the weather. But you know the fly bridge is really where it's at.

Another fine boat with a lot of really nice features. I do like the access from the bow to the bridge for anchor handeling ,visability for docking and general operation . Looks like good access to operate and store stuff . The foiling option sounds interesting . In my opinion being able to operate in heavy weather is important . As we all know weather can change quickly . To me having Mr. Raas to help and advise is VERY helpful and shows commitment from the factory .

I love my Aquila and so much want to trade-up my 44 for this or a 54. But older now and this dream is slipping away. Continued on this model, as with other Aquila, one thing I absolutely love and insist upon, is the Captain/Pilot has a direct route from the wheel house, to the bow section. I Pilot and work there, so no one goes to the bow but me and my appointed Hand. No kids, or bathing cushions - just my equipment and work space. With Aquila designs I can dash up and down. I've learned to manage much of the boat myself (but it's smart to train at least 1 Hand to work your way).

I never comment but I just have to. I love this boat. Usually I ignore caramaran tours, I just dont like them. But this one, I could live aboard. So many big windows, so many entertaining spaces. Soooo much storage. You could go all day and not see your spouse. For such a smallish boat, its huge! You could even have a captain. Could you put a pullman in the cozy cabin? I love everything from colour scheme to davit in back. Just lovely.

I just love that Aquila is redoing the hull design for their yacht line-up to allow for a foiling option. I will say that the mental image of a 70 foot catamaran almost literally FLYING above the water is somewhat frightening 🤣. And as usual their USE of available space is second to none (at least as far as production/semi-custom boats are concerned). During the "geek time" Alain made a good point about how BELOW foiling speeds they're actually going to be a liability as far as fuel economy is concerned. Now to just add ultra-efficient props to the engines as well . . . Very nice tour Victoria, Rico and Alain. Thank you for the sneak peek at the new "pocket yacht"! I didn't see anything resembling pricing on the Aquila site but I'm pretty certain it will be at least 500k (if not 1M) over the 36 sport. _IF_ I could, I'd get one with this "SE" layout but with the addition of the larger engines, foiling option and Sharrow props.

A lot of very thoughtful features, and love the power cat concept, but the exterior reminds me of the cheap "plastic fantastic" sailboats of the 90s. Definitely needs some classing up for the price of these boats. One more pet peeve, when I'm sitting in the aft cockpit I want to look at the beautiful natural surroundings, not forward into the boat. Too many boats do this. A few now have flip back seats that work both ways.

When my parents had their boat, they took one of the giant underseat compartments and stuck a small garden trolley in it and that became the trash bin for the day. Obviously it had a bag in it and if it ripped, it was plastic and could be rinsed out, plus it was a drainable locker. When you have 8-10 people on it, it would work out so well.

Very nice boat, and clearly you also liked it, when you spend so much time on it. Aquila is just the top motor catamaran company right now, in my book. So many great design features, as that flybridge with direct access to the bow. My comment about Aquaholic Nick were only meant to show appreciation about your quality of content here. I were mistaken, by the way, he has showcased the 44 this week and not this brand new model. His style is more true v-log style and a very quick run through the boats, without opening hardly anything. Not a critique of him either, in that way he sure can run through a lot of boats in just one week and create a lot of content, but you guys are the boat review VIPs in my book: Very high quality of content, good sense of humor too and always reliable information. The latter was absolutely not the case with former sailing catamaran review shows, that I used to follow, which in many cases simply slandered boats and companies, which they did not like. No names mentioned, no feelings hurt! I could throw one little wrench though: The Leen 50 offers even more space, an advanced hybrid drive system included with extreme range potential and for the same base price. I know, that you are not old enough to love the trawler style of those boats, as Victoria has pointed out so many times, but I am and many of your followers surely may be too! God Bless!

A nice tour of a very nice boat. What do the foils add to its draft? How fragile are they?
@CharleyGeorge Жыл бұрын
These foil options would be perfect for Lake Erie and the other great lakes. No doubt. Lake Erie can be super dangerous because our chop is so strange because the depth changes frequently and sometimes quickly. This makes the waves go from white capped 3-5 to larger longer duration 5-7 and sometimes 5-7 whites caps. It is nuts if you have no idea how to handle yourself on this lake. Plus it can get dangerous in about an hour and if you are out from shore a bit you will not realize how bad it is till you start moving.

Question regarding the foiling aspect. Is this going to be foiling where the entire wetted surface of the hull is out of the water or does the foiling effect just reduce drag by raising part of the hull out of the water?
@johngauntlett4915 Жыл бұрын
Rico, let me ask you a technical question. So if you opt for the foil package the cost would be more but you also have to reach the speed for it to be effective and in that case you are using more fuel and spending more money for the fuel?

I know its hard to believe but not everyone who boats lives in Florida. Those who live in colder climates like the great lakes , upper east coast, pacific northwest, even Alaska and Canada often like a lower enclosed helm.

Before I found the silent-yachts, the Aquila was top of my list but not really being ocean crossing (diesel limit). Would you ever do a maintenance/cost comparison between silent and Aquila? Over say 5 years. I know travel /gas costs are quite variable, but comparing average use for costs and maintenance would be interesting.
@NautiStyles Жыл бұрын
just a side note.. just because the boat has a range to cross the atlantic, doesn't mean it always can/ should. there are many factors at play...
@redwolfexr Жыл бұрын
IMO Silent has been intentionally miss-marketed. Its been pitched as a zero fuel full amenity boat and they REALLY should offer a more eco version of it that optimizes power consumption. Because as soon as you start moving it around much you have to run the engine/generator. Its designed with no thought to power economy because the solar can power it all up. Its a floating condo that should not be moved much. But they SELL it as a full yacht and if you run it as a yacht you have nowhere NEAR enough power for motoring and hotel loads at the same time. (low speed short trips and using the boat more economically is a better use of its capabilities) More than 30 miles a day you are going to be burning fuel.
@1corinthians15.1-4kjv Жыл бұрын
@@redwolfexr That is my issue with the Silent as well, and the fact, that I do not like the design much at all. Leen Trimarans have an advanced hybrid system, but if customers offer full solar roof on the flybridge as an option, they could go further than Silent on solar power alone, but still have a good old trusty diesel engine in the central hull. In the end that would be the better option, at least for now.
@crowdfundcrew Жыл бұрын
@@NautiStyles yeah I keep looking for actual data. There are views on both sides from those that love them and those that seem to be against all things EV. I’m an actual data guy. Their first ocean crossing had good numbers but very limited of one trip with one weather condition. I can’t afford one yet anyway, so have time to research and watch tech upgrades. 🤓
@1corinthians15.1-4kjv Жыл бұрын
@@crowdfundcrew If you are a data/ tech guy, I am not and I got ten thumbs too, look up a video filming a couple, who bought an old storm damaged catamaran for little money, ripped of the destroyed rigging and installed an entire solar roof and advanced electric only drive on their own. The end result a 45 foot catamaran with endless amounts of electricity for living and also sailing on EV mode alone, build for about 400k US Dollars! Look up Wildly Intrepid Sailing.
