The Display is actually not "240Hz". The refresh rate itself is 120Hz, it just uses so called black frame insertion at double the frame rate to make motion appear clearer and to just reduce motion blur in general. If you turn on the Android FPS-Counter, it will show 120, not 240.

Fantastic review mate! I've also got this phone and was going to do a video covering it but I think you've put everything perfectly haha! Love the screen on this thing, the oled panel is stunning, cameras are great also imo...shame they didn't just slap the 8 gen 3 in it rather than 8s gen 3 though, especially at the price point. I picked mine up on Etoren for around 750 which ok isnt cheap but certainly better than some of the prices other people are charging, overall im happy with it although its no Vivo x200 pro or Oppo find x7 ultra!

This is likely your first Sharp smartphone. To install software updates, you need to use a VPN and set your location to Japan. If your location isn't set to Japan, the phone won’t recognize any software updates as available. Data connectivity is often poor in Japanese Sharp smartphones due to missing global 4G and 5G bands. The Taiwanese versions are the true global versions, as they lack the drawbacks found in the Japanese models. All LYT-900 and IMX989 sensors are 0.98" in size. Many other phones use the entire sensor area but advertise it as a 1" sensor. For example, the Vivo X100 Pro's main camera is officially listed as a 0.98" sensor on their website. Pixel UI and stock Android are not the same.

One quick question (and great to see you covering this phone, I have the R7!) - does this Japanese International version come with the 4g bands needed (especially I think the band 20?) for the UK, as sharps website is pretty confusing with regards which versions come with which bands! @davidgibson277 because it not expensive to begin with. Believe it or not even Etoren price is higher by about $100 but that's only for overseas. Scalpers are crazy and you can find this exact phone going for $1900 on eBay. Etoren is not Saint either, they too are selling some phones like VIVO X Note for $1200-1300 and that phone is 3 years old. Although most products are priced very reasonably here. Hope that helps

Thanks a lot for being the first non-Asian based to review this sharp R9pro. I am looking to change my find X3pro next week for CNY I am leaving for Singapore. I wanted to upgrade to the find X8pro, so I expected a review for this sharp, knowing already that the camera was a bit shaky (Japanese review 2 months ago) and they didn't fix it via update. It's a bit like a Xiaomi 14 ultra with a top main sensor but below for other specs. So I wasn't sure about getting the sharp R9pro, the Xiaomi 14 ultra, the Magic 7pro or the findX8 pro because I can get their global versions locally here. And now I am confused lol 😅 Nevertheless, I am surprised by the price for the Sharp R9 pro (global) because In Singapore I can get it for 750 GBP (Sharp Store official), and now the Xiaomi 14 ultra (global) for 840 GBP while for the honor and the oppo, your prices are good, especially for Someone based in the UK (people should be happy to have you there 👍).
